SangomaBeat plays West African rhythms and World music songs on djembes, bass drums and vocals for parties, clubs and city festivals. Our songs come from Africa, Brazil and India and are accompanied by guitar and piano, but the emphasis is on dance inspiring rhythms. Our show can be interactive with audiences clapping, drumming and dancing with us.
We hired SangomaBeat for our graduation celebration at Chapman University's Dodge College of Film and Media Arts. They were absolutely fantastic and really fit perfectly with our event theme through providing their worldly, international sounds and talents. I was ecstatic when I heard them in person. Pashyo is a joy to work with and has been excellent at correspondence from day 1. The group is so sweet and their excitement is contagious. My team and all those who attended our event absolutely loved having them. I sincerely hope to work with or see them again in the future. Can't recommend them enough!!!
Pashyo took the time out to educate the children on the power of community through creative expression. The children and parents raved about their experience in the circle! All of the children participated throughout the entire time with smiles on their faces and joy in their hearts. This is what Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. stood for. Unity through diversity, connection and joy. Thanks for your generous contribution, Pashyo!
We hired SangomaBeat to provide music for our elementary school culture week celebration. They were fantastic! They were energetic and provided a lot of audience participation. The kids and parents had a great time.
Response from SangomaBeat:
Thanks for your lovely feedback. It was a pleasure working for you. Great space for our show. Loved the way the kids got excited about our show and joined in dancing, singing and drumming. Let us know, if you need another show or drum circle.

What to Expect
We deliver an African Percussion Show with a host of different rhythms, ethnic vocals and dance performance. We can be the highlight of your party with a fast paced 30 minute show or act as a dance band and provide percussion grooves for up to 2 hours. We also feature drum circles and teach your guests African dance moves. The exotic flair of our instruments and costumes makes our band also visually attractive.
SangomaBeat was founded 15 years ago by Pashyo Sarkin and her drumming students and has evolved into a professional world music group during this last decade. SangomaBeat performs at city festivals, clubs, schools, colleges, galleries, functions and private parties. Our 8 musicians play dance inspiring West African rhythms on djembe drums, djun djuns and congas. The songs come from Ghana, Guinea, Brazil and India and often have vocals accompanied by guitar and keyboard. And the ethnic dance show is always appreciated by audiences.
Additional Booking Notes
We can play purely acoustic drums or bring our amplifier, e-piano and mics.
