Samuel's performances are always an interactive experience. The poems presented are the main act, however, the anecdotal stories between his poems give the experience a more conversational vibe. Whether you book Samuel for one poem or 15 poems you'll be taken on a journey all the same. With a wide diversity of subjects Samuel can enhance an event's theme or simply be the inspiration delivering poems that may make you laugh, cry at times, create space for growth, or challenge your perspectives. Samuel “Snacks” Hawkins was born in the volunteer state but raised in bluegrass and influenced by hip hop and jazz to bring you a spoken-word experience that will not only entertain, but will also make you think.

A microphone, microphone stand, and a sound system are needed. Members of the audience can stand or sit depending on the event and if I am positioned on a stage. For the longer performances that are 45 minutes or more it may be better for the audience to have the option to be seated. I don't have a light show to accompany my performances. I've done small parties that do not require a microphone or microphone stand. It all depends on the setting. My setup is very flexible.
