Samoan Fire Dancer
Overview
My name is Keila Siosi Pritchard, and I am 26 years old. I am in a Samoan family where fire dancing has been passed down for generations. My father taught me and I have been performing since I was 9. He passed me the "torch" when I was 13. I strive to provide people with an authentic Siva Afi Samoa (Samoan Fire Dance) and give them a price to make them want me to return. I am located in Columbus, Georgia and am willing to travel as needed and discuss reasonable compensation. There are many YouTube videos I am happy to share if asked for as well. Fa’afetai tele lava!

August 5, 2013Amazing Performance!
We hired Keila for my 50th Birthday Party and he kept everyone in awe. He performed in between band sets, which was the perfect break. When he runs by the crowd, you feel how hot the fire is and wonder how he can do what he does. Besides a beautiful dance, he is very friendly and posed for pictures with everybody that asked. His dance was exactly what I was looking for and the highlight of my party.

What to expect
For my dance you will get a show that consists of a single knife and double knife routine. The dance is with real fire and I wear an E'a lava lava. It is a good closing show and I can bring my own music if you have a PA system.
About
Hello my name is Keila Pritchard. Like I said I am a family of 11 children and we are a diverse family to say the least my mom's ancestry is from Italy and German and my fathers is mainly from Samoa and I have grown up watching my father do his Siva Afi Samoa, or Samoan Fire Knife Dance, and seeing my dad do this I knew i wanted to do the dance and carry out the tradition. I have been doing the Fire knife for roughly 6 years now. I have learned from my father and he learned from his. In An ancient knife dance would have been done prior to a war with the knives that the warriors would fight with almost to say I am so swift and graceful with my knife that I will win this fight. If you have seen the New Zealand "HAKA" well the fire knife is Samoa's war dance, or one of their war dances. As time went by and wars stopped Samoans started dancing for tourist and started dancing as they would go to the "mainland" (America) and although twirling knives is cool, the tourists needed more so some Samoan dancers started adding fire, this was a new thing and has evolved so much since, but essentially it created the Fire "Knife" dance. the modern day show is intended to be short high energy and usually gets placed last unless there is a Taualuga after which is a Samoan closing dance but at any event it would not be uncommon to close a show with the high energy short Siva Afi Samoa. My particular dance consist of a single knife routine for about 3-5 minutes and then a double routine of about the same time so i end up dancing for 7-10 minutes but between fire set up and music and ending it isn't out of the ordinary to etch out 15 minutes for my dance and actually dance for half of it. My price is $250.00. I am in NY for school for a good majority of the year. but in the summer I will be in the Northwest.
