Sam Smith is a solo singer/guitarist with a range of musical genre from Hank Williams to Jimmi Hendrix, from Buffett to BTO. He has played to raved reviews at many local Hilton Head, SC restaurants, bars, and various special events, first with his band South Wind and now as a solo act.
I was hoping to find a ukulele/guitar player for our wedding ceremony and was lucky to find Sam on gig salad. We wanted to have someone entertain the crowd prior to the ceremony, do the ceremony music, play during cocktail hour and do our first dance acoustic. We were nervous to find someone who could do all this, but Sam was able to meet all our needs perfectly. When we met Sam, he was able to help pull our vision together, as well as give great ideas (he has an extensive play list!). We wanted a specific song for our first dance, Sam was familiar with the artist, but did not have it on our play list. He said he would accommodate us and learn to play our song. We were blown away with his ability to play this song acoustically, i thought it was better than the original! Overall, Sam went above our expectations! Our guests raved about him! He helped make our day even better!
Response from Sam Smith:
Thank you so much for those very nice comments Kristen. I was honored to be a part of your big day. The song was a B.B. King song, and who doesn't want to learn a new B.B.King song? I had a great time. Thank you again for the opportunity. My very best wishes to you in your new married life.
I went to dinner at the Crazy Crab restaraunt with my family while on vacation on Hilton Head Island. There was about an hour wait for a table so we went out to the porch to have a dring while waiting. There was Sam Smith playing guitar and singing. His repertaur and range of genre was most impressive. His voice is outstanding. Very warm and clear, great tone quality. We enjoyed his performance very much, in fact, it was the highlight of our entire vacation. I would go back to Hilton Head and the Crazy Crab again just to hear Sam sing. If you get the chance to hear him or hire him, do NOT passs it up.

Rich mellow vocals and guitar playing from the 60's, 70's, 80's and beyond. Rock, Pop, Country, Blues, Beach, R&B, and more. My gigs are always fun and entertaining. The audience is a big part of the show. I take requests without complaint, in fact I love the challenge.
He plays regularly at one of the most frequented restaurants on Hilton Head Island in the summer where the response from the patrons continues to be stellar. He is equally well suited for weddings and other private functions. His favorite music to share with his fans and customers is classic rock from the 70's, but his strong, rich voice also makes country, blues, and other genre sound delightful. The band South Wind was voted "Best Local Band" in 2007 largely due to the soulful vocals of Sam Smith. Both visitors to Hilton Head and locals thoroughly enjoy Sam's act.
Always have a dish of blue only M&M's for me...not really. I need only electricity and 25 sq. ft. of floor space. I use acoustic guitars mainly, but electric if the venue calls for it. I also play harmonica for some songs. I am learning the mandolin and ukulele to add a bit more depth to the act. I use a harmony/vocal processor, but sparingly (I don't like to muck about too much with my vocals and arrangements) Depending on the gig I will use up to 3 speakers and I don't need floor monitors as I use an in0ear personal monitor. I am very simple and pack as light as I can while bringing enough to give a great show.
Probably 90% of this PARTIAL list I can do impromptu. There are many many more that I just could not think of when compiling the list.
