Vanden Heuvel Wedding - 5/31/14

I had the pleasure of having Sadie Glass perform at my wedding this past May. To say that I was impressed with her musical talent is an understatement. She plays beautifully and has excellent taste in sophisticated repertoire. Sadie handles her clients with a high level of professionalism and respect, and is very thorough with all of the details that needed to be communicated. I could not have been more pleased to work with this very talented and professional musician.

What to expect

I am able to provide any genre of music from classical to pop. If you wish, I may also be able to contract other musicians to form various small chamber ensembles for your event, such as woodwind, brass, strings, and harp. I perform on period horns, the natural horn and baroque horn, and would be happy to provide historic performances. Please feel free to contact me with any questions, and visit (link hidden) for more information.

About

Wisconsin native, Sadie (Cisler) Glass, is currently on faculty at Pacific Union College as an Adjunct Horn Professor. At PUC, she provides lessons to horn and trumpet majors, coaches the PUC horn quartet, and teaches the brass performance class. In her community, Glass engages in outreach work at Salvador Elementary, Napa Valley Language Academy, Napa Valley Youth Symphony, and with the Napa Valley Performing Arts Center. She is passionate about the natural and baroque horn, teaching, and chamber music. Pursuing her strong interest in early music, Glass has studied and performed on the natural horn for over six years, working with some of the most influential natural horn players including Hermann Baumann, Richard Seraphinoff, Paul Avril, and Lowell Greer.

As a freelance musician, Glass is a member of the Symphony Napa Valley, and is a substitute with several Bay Area Orchestras, such as the Berkeley Symphony, Santa Rosa Symphony, and Monterrey Symphony. In the past, she has played Fourth Horn in the Champaign-Urbana Symphony Orchestra and the Central Wisconsin Symphony Orchestra.

Glass has been a featured performer as a soloist and with various chamber groups. She won the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point concerto competition and was also a featured soloist with the Lakeshore Wind Ensemble as part of their “Local Talent Series” in 2011 and 2014. As a chamber musician, Glass has performed with the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) Graduate Brass Quintet, Illinois Brass Quintet, and the UIUC Graduate Horn Quartet. As a member of the UIUC Graduate Horn Quartet, Glass won the quartet competition at the Midwest Horn Workshop in Oshkosh, WI in 2013. In California, Glass received a grant to start a chamber music series in Napa Valley, Musical Flights, which pairs music with other aesthetics such as wine, food, dance, poetry, etc… Along with her colleagues, they have performed with members of the Smuin Ballet, Napa's poet laureate, and local wineries.

Glass completed a Master’s degree at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, studying horn performance with Bernhard Scully. While at Illinois, she was the teaching assistant for the horn studio, where she taught horn methods, directed the horn choir, and taught undergraduate horn lessons. Glass graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor’s degree in music performance from University of Wisconsin Stevens Point, studying with Dr. Patrick Miles.

Additional booking notes

I do not need very much in order to perform, I just ask that you let me know the venue (indoor, outdoor, etc...), and that the weather isn't too extreme (ie - too cold in the winter). I am able to bring my own stand and chair.
