MY STORY
An Illusion to an Evolution
I’m one of the lucky ones who can say I spent my childhood growing up beneath swaying coconut trees, listening to the gentle rhythm of the ocean on the islands of Hawaii. My father was stationed there in the Air Force shortly before I was born, and when his service ended, he chose to stay and plant roots in the islands.
Growing up as one of just a few African Americans in a vibrant melting pot of cultures gave me a unique vantage point to see the world—one that continues to shape how I navigate life and connect with people to this very day.
A serial entrepreneur since the age of 22, I’ve ventured into a wide range of business endeavors—from building a successful trucking company, launching an air quality business, to promoting concerts and becoming a top earner in an MLM company—along with a few other ventures in between.
Born into and raised in a high-control religious sect. I became disillusioned with it all, and I chose to walk away around the age of 40. I lost nearly everything: my marriage, family relationships, lifelong friendships, and my businesses. Everything that once defined my life was gone. Like so many others, I had to rebuild my life—one brick at a time.
The lessons I learned during that season became the foundation for what I now call The Adversity Advantage. I firmly believe that on the other side of life’s hardest challenges lies a stronger, wiser, and more courageous version of ourselves.
That is my story, ladies and gentlemen… and I’m sticking to it.
