About

Robin is an academic, composer, and teacher embracing her inner singer-songwriter. In late 2016, Robin could no longer ignore the call of songwriting; she crowdfunded the release of her debut album, In All Degrees and completed a twelve-day Midwest house concert tour that took her through Missouri, Illinois, and Wisconsin.

The quintessential DIY musician and “Jill of Music Trades,” Robin’s diverse history as a teacher, composer, and arts administrator has included appointments with the University of Missouri School of Music, Columbia College, Odyssey Chamber Music Series, PACE children’s theater, and Columbia Public Schools. She has served as producer and performer for local new works showcase Strange New Worlds, where she began her songwriting journey in 2015. She currently serves as music director for Bethel Baptist Church, pianist and conductor for Columbia Youth Choirs, and manages a large independent studio of private vocalists and pianists. Anderson is a soprano and founding member of Élan Singers, a 12-member professional choral group and past Ensemble-in-Residence at Columbia College ((phone number hidden)6). She serves on the advisory board for the Quorus, Columbia’s premiere LGBTQ choir, and is a member of NATS and ACDA.

An avid stage performer and musical director, Robin’s recent theater credits include Woman 1 in Songs for a New World and Lynette “Squeaky” Fromme in Assassins. She has directed the music for several shows, including Heathers, Legally Blonde, Honk, Jr., Shrek, The Little Mermaid, The Drowsy Chaperone, and 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee.

Robin holds a Master’s degree in Music Education from the University of Missouri – Columbia (MU), where she graduated summa cum laude, and a professional Certificate in Arts Management from the University of Massachusetts – Amherst. Today, she regularly appears as a soloist or with The Upsides, a 4-piece touring Americana band.
