Singer, Guitar & Sax player - plays a wide variety of music styles... Jazz, R&B, Pop, Blues, Country, Folk... Deep silky smooth vocals are his signature... but every now and then he throws in a gritty blues song or an uptempo country song or a silly novelty song just to break things up and keep it interesting.
On a budget? One of the best sounding one man bands you'll ever hear.
Also plays as a duo ("2BC") with a singing keyboard player or a trio ("3BC") with keyboards and drums or a quartet ("4BC") with keyboards, drums & bass...

Robert played at a cocktail hour on our wedding in June. He is so talented and played different instruments. The guests enjoyed the music and commented how good he was. The communication with Robert was quick and easy, he came to meet us a day before our wedding and take a look at the venue and the area where to set up. He arrived on time and provided a wonderful service. Thank you sooo much Robert!
It was an absolute pleasure to have Robert K. (aka Bob Nelson) play at our wedding. From the get-go, he responded in a manner that was very professional and friendly. He and his wife Marg joined in with our wedding and their kind and comfortable manner made them feel more like family. During dinner, Robert played saxophone and sang and our guests were so impressed with the ambience of the dinner (which was due to Robert!) His voice is remarkable. Deep and strong, with a beautiful unique quality to it. He truly has an impressive presence. Robert offered to learn a song for my two year old daughter which meant so much to her and I. Due to the hot weather, many of the guests moved outside after dinner. Robert was happy to improvise and moved his set up outside in just ten minutes, no problem at all. He is a talented musician, a classy man, and a flexible and pleasant professional to work with. I only wish there had been more time to spend! Many people from my wedding mentioned afterward how much they enjoyed Robert's performance and how incredibly nice both he and his wife, Marg, were. I would highly recommend Robert for your event.
Response from Robert K:
Hi Odette,
Thank you for your kind comments. It was a real pleasure to play for you and your family and friends.
Robert was a delightful man. Did a beautiful job of creating ambiance at our event
Thank you Robert and Marg for taking time out of your weekend on June 24th to be available to play at our wedding. Our music helped make our day even more amazing, from song choices to your smiling faces, we were ecstatic to have you apart of our day.

People who attended the Seniors Tea at the 2016 Sooke Fine Arts Show loved Robert K's "Call the Tunes" We received comments like, "Thanks for Robert K. What a beautiful voice he has. The sax was played beautifully, as well." We'll ask him to perform again at the Show
Robert K is a gifted artist. When I contacted him he quickly discussed details and booked the gig. Then he spent time personalizing our song list and talking with me to get to know us. He even wrote us our own song and made a wall placard which is so perfect.
Robert K was the perfect addition to our special day, you can tell he truly loves what he does and embraces it with the zeal of someone passionate and kind.
Thank you Robert K!
We had the good fortune to have Robert K perform at our restaurant, The Oaks, this Valentine's Day. He really came through for us by being flawlessly professional; producing attractive posters, promoting the night to all his contacts, being easily reachable to discuss details, and being punctual the night of.
His performance really hit the right chord with all of our customers. It was a refreshing balance of entertainment without being intrusive. Being able to request their favourite songs from a list of over two-hundred was a lot of fun for our guests and did not interrupt their intimate evening. Robert has a great stage presence, as he neither commands attention, nor does he fade into the background. The audience can choose their own level of participation.
Robert is a truly talented musician with a wonderful voice - he knows what he's doing!
We hired Robert to perform at our 30Anniversary/50th Birthday Bash in August. We could not have been more happy with his performance. Robert's relaxed and friendly manner, wonderful voice, and wide range of sound and song selections did much to make the party a resounding success. Our guests were most impressed. We will definitely hire him again!
We had Robert K and his Trio play at our Christmas party. They did a wonderful job and we received numerous compliments on our choice of performers. Everyone from young children to adults to seniors enjoyed the music. It set a wonderful tone for our event and I'm certain we'll have them back.
Response from Robert K:
Hi Cliff,
Thanks for the nice review. We would love to play for you again anytime.
What a super evening. Deep, rich voice....personable.....all the great songs that we all know so well. And one beautiful song that he wrote himself. If you get the chance to see this very talented performer, take it. You won't be disappointed. We were fortunate enough to see him at Evedar's in Langford. The food and ambiance and Robert K made this a truly memorable experience.
Response from Robert K:
Brian, Thank you so much for your kind words... it was a real treat to play for you. I look forward to seeing you again soon.
On July 19, 2014 - a little Ghost Town was to have its Leechtown 150 Commemoration. With a lot of work and flurry the event which was to unveil a new monument as the original and rebuilt monuments of the past were destroyed and in derelict condition, on private land and unreachable by the public many objectives were to be met. Partnering up with CRD Parks, permission was granted to erect the monument at Kapoor Park a stones throw from the original Cairn and right at the Confluence of the Sooke and Leech River. With permits and a lot of work and help the event took shape. VIPMA was honored with receiving acceptance by the Honorable Judith Guichon, Lieutenant Governor of British Columbia to co-unveil the monument with Mr. Bruce Chaytor, President of VIPMA. With busloads of selected guests bused up the Galloping Goose Trail, those who are young and have the energy to walk or ride the trail, and the many who came in through CRD Water Board by pre-arrangement and special permit, witnessed the ceremony, Her Honor was suitably piped in by her Piper, escorted by Bruce Chaytor, the Sooke RCMP, a Red Serge and flags flying high. Once seated Robert K sang to the heavens above and the crowd Oh Canada and at the end of the ceremony he honored our special guest, the Queen's representative, Her Honor Judith Guichon by singing God Save the Queen. As our MC was not well, Robert K also stepped in and took over the duties of the MC. Robert K is one of the finest human beings one can find. He and his wife Margaret mingled with the crowd, and he enjoyed special moments with Her Honor Judith Guichon; and VIPMA is forever grateful for that special touch Robert K brought to this historical event. Robert K has a beautiful voice and on that day the Sooke Hills were alive with music, honoring history of the discovery of gold at the confluence of the Sooke and Leech Rivers and paying tribute to the many different livelihoods that were supported by Leechtown over the last 150 years. No other voice could have resonated through the Sooke Hills such as that of Robert K. Forever Grateful. Thank you.
Response from Robert K:
HI Donna,
Thank you for this lovely review... It's much appreciated.
When you have lived a life, and reconnect with another and decide at the age of 60 to get married, you usually elope and do it. It didn't go that way for us, the community wanted a party a big wedding, and so we had by today's standards a decent wedding, held in a local hall, decorated to the T - but one thing was missing : I need a wedding song. There are all kinds of wedding songs, but I wanted one that truly spoke of our love and how it happened, and no other song would do but "It Was Over When You Said Hello" and did Robert K ever do this beautifully on his own with guitar. Even where I fouled up as I was so nervous to get to where my beloved was; Robert K just finished the song when we signed the documents. I had also the pleasure of Robert K. entertaining with strumming his guitar and humming songs to entertain the guests before the wedding. After the dinner, the dance was on, and the selection of tunes was phenomenal. I know I danced the night away, and loved the performance, as did many of the guests, who did comment on Robert K and the performance. What I found about Robert K is he gets into your groove, he just knows what works.
We have had the pleasure of bringing Robert-K in to entertain our customers at Evedar's Bistro in Langford on many occasions and bring him in regularly because our customers thoroughly enjoy his music and let us know they enjoy his silky voice and his choice of 'popular' songs. I appreciate how he engages the audience, encouraging them to select their favourite songs, while not infringing on the intimacy of their dining experience. Personally, as an owner and a server I love knowing he will be performing because I know that not only will the customers be entertained, I will too! On behalf of our entire team and I know I speak for our customers - We highly recommend Robert-K!
Response from Robert K:
Fran,
Thank you so much for this wonderful review - Evedar's is like a second home to me. I love playing there, really enjoy the staff & even though I don't eat when I play I know how much my wife (and your customers) enjoy the great food. Evedar's really is one of Langford's hidden treasures.

Equally comfortable in a concert setting or in a lounge, Robert K's silky smooth voice, affable personality, sense of humour and personal warmth make him an immediate fan favourite.
In a concert environment his wit, humour and wonderful story telling, as well as disarming conversation with the audience draws people in and makes everyone feel like they are with a friend.
In a lounge environment his easy listening style and broad appeal sets a soothing, intimate mood. It's easy to carry on a quiet conversation with friends or just sit and listen. His sound is very resistant to listener fatigue and always leaves patrons smiling.
For over 40 years Robert K (aka Bob Nelson) has been entertaining audiences on Southern Vancouver Island. He started his musical journey as the guitarist/vocalist in the Brigham Bros. Band, a top 40 trio that did the Legion circuit in the 70’s.
His next project was as the bass player/vocalist in “Vintage Rock & Roll Band,” Victoria’s top show band in the late 70’s & 80’s. Bob, better known to many as “The Big Bopper” made the transition from being the bass player to being the band’s Tenor Sax player. His energy, humour and rich vocals made him a fan favourite.
Then came a 14 year stint as the Bass singer in the well known local A’capella (Rock-a-pella) group, Cornerstone. His unmistakable bass voice, sense of humour, and abilities as a composer and arranger provided the foundation for the group’s sound.
In more recent years Robert K. has applied his talents to recording… first recording his own album, “Just Me” (under the name “Bob Nelson”) and then producing and engineering albums for other local artists. He has more recently been seen as the drummer/vocalist in the The Blue Moon Band.
This multi-talented musician has now embarked on another project.
In his own words: “Finally, now that I have the freedom, it’s time to get serious about the thing I love the most… my music!” Robert K has always been known for his bass voice as part of a group but has recently been working hard to polish his unique style as a lead vocalist. From the enthusiastic response he’s receiving from his fans he’s got the right idea. This singer, and multi instrumentalist, is also an accomplished song writer and usually mixes an original song or two into each of his sets.
When fans are asked who Robert K sounds like, the consensus has been: “a combination of the deep soulful voice of Barry White, combined with the richness of Roger Whittaker and the smooth sound of Nat King Cole.” Add to his smooth vocals some tasty tenor sax solos, versatile guitar playing and his engaging and friendly personality, Robert K’s music provides variety, that always leaves his audiences feeling good!
Technical requirements are minimal. Robert K usually travels with his own PA for gigs up to 300 people. For larger gigs he needs at least 4 channels in the PA with a good reverb and digital delay to warm up the sound. (more channels when playing with a keyboard player or a band)
Only basic lighting is required.
