As an educator, why do the job if you are not hoping to make a lasting impact on children, colleagues, or the profession as a whole? "More Than Just Educators” examines individuals who will never be forgotten by those who they had an impact upon, and will remind every participant that their ripple effect never ends. Highlighting great teachers, support staff, and administrators from across the country, this presentation hits on all employee groups within a school in order to ensure that staff members know how much they matter to students. In today's world, educating students, or running schools and districts, is a difficult job that taxes the mind greatly. However, through reflection, attendees will be reminded that they have a legacy they are leaving behind, and that their time in their job is worth the effort they give each and every day.

Based upon three books in the "More Than Just" series, I motivate educators to remember that without relationships, students will not achieve the highest level of success. This presentation inspires individuals to go above and beyond for their students. Attendees will be reminded they do not have to "do more work" to "be more" to kids, they just have to care and meet them on a personal level. Participants will enjoy music, engaging content, take an emotional roller-coaster ride, and will hear stories of fellow educators that prove it is "more than just school" for many individuals. Through reflection and looking at different perspectives, the audience will think about both the student and teacher that have had the biggest impact on their life and will leave with the understanding that relationships are paramount to the success of students.

Educators will be reminded that they matter, be inspired to reach greater heights for their students, and leave with a renewed sense of greater purpose. Other attendees will understand the impact their favorite educator had upon their lives and strive to be the best they can be, just like their favorite educator, in order to make a lasting impact in whatever journey they take in their lives.

While speaking, I feel that is my goal and my job to ensure that the attendees feel emotions and are bought into the content that I am presenting. Through the use of various videos that align with the content, I can watch the audience and feel their energy, both excitement and gratitude, as they reflect on their current legacy and what they do for students and their schools. As I move through my presentation and have attendees reflect and think about their current practices and perspectives, it is fun to watch them adjust their thoughts and discover new ideas that can help them. Finally, as we get to the end and they go down the path of memories regarding the people who helped shape them who they are at that moment as a person and an educator, I often see tears of happy joy as they are captivated by the exercise of reflection about their favorite teacher. This motivates them to be better, to go further for kids, and to be "more than just an educator" going forward.

Robert Hinchliffe is a successful principal, author, and speaker based in Las Vegas, Nevada, where he has been an elementary school administrator for over 20 years. His career accomplishments include leading various highly rated schools, schools that have received distinguished awards, and he was selected to open Tyrone Thompson Elementary School in 2020. He is the author of multiple books including “More Than Just Teaching” which highlighted 25 teachers whose legacy will live forever. His latest book “More Than Just Assistant Principals” became available in March of 2026 and reached #1 on Amazon’s List for New Releases. As a principal, he currently leads “the model of what a public school can and should be” while working to fight the status quo daily, aiming to create an exciting school environment for kids and families. He has presented at various schools, districts, and conferences, and even in Canada, bringing his energy and passion to his sessions so attendees leave feeling inspired to make a bigger impact in our profession.
