Richard Duran
Overview
Richard Duran's music doesn't fit into the narratives of modern-day Nashville country, nor can you say that it checks all the boxes of folky, Western swing. Instead you find a musician that plays as he is: A guitarist and vocalist with a classic country twang that continues his quick growing to tell about stories and emotions through modern songs with his own country growl. With this, you find an artist that draws in audiences of all types each and every time he performs.

What to expect
When you come to a Richard Duran show, you’re getting honest, no-frills country music rooted in storytelling. The set blends original songs with a handful of carefully chosen classics, delivered with a raw, acoustic-driven sound that leans old-school rather than polished pop-country. The focus is on the song—lyrics first, emotion second, and everything else stripped back. Whether it’s an upbeat honky-tonk feel or a quiet, reflective moment, the performance feels personal and real.
Clients can expect a reliable, professional artist who shows up prepared and adapts to the room. Richard typically performs solo acoustic, making him a great fit for bars, listening rooms, outdoor events, and private functions, but can also perform with a full band when the setting calls for it. Sets are customizable by length and vibe, volume-appropriate, and designed to keep audiences engaged without overpowering the space. Clear communication, punctuality, and respect for the venue are standard.
About
Richard Ray Duran is an old-soul that has endeared a love for making music, as part of his self worth, for the better half of his life. Not only has his ear for music helped get him through some hard times, but his emotional hardships combined with more than two decades of a religious view on music has shaped the very music that he loves and plays today. Influences and inspiration
Richard Duran’s music is influenced by the raw storytelling and stripped-down honesty of traditional and outlaw country. Drawing inspiration from artists like Hank Williams Jr., Waylon Jennings, Marty Robbins, and Townes Van Zandt, his sound carries an old-country foundation with modern grit. Contemporary influences such as Tyler Childers, Sturgill Simpson, and Zach Bryan also shape his writing approach—keeping the focus on real stories, lived-in lyrics, and emotionally driven performances rather than polished production.
