Overview
Santa Jay (Rich) visits the York County SC area from around Thanksgiving all the way to Christmas Eve. (I get very busy after that). I am the grandpa looking Santa, at age 75 with a real, natural white beard and gray hair (yes I'll let them pull it- gently). I have a full background check and have been cleared all the way up to the White House. I'm a non-smoker, non-drinker (no drunk Santa here!) I limit my travel to within 20 miles of Rock Hill SC (my home away from the North Pole). I enjoy reading to the kids, leading larger groups in singing Christmas Carols, and, of course love photos with the kids and families.

Santa was absolutely incredible, especially in the way he worked with children who have special needs and sensory sensitivities. From the very first moment, he was calm, patient, and deeply understanding, creating a safe and welcoming environment for every child. He never rushed interactions and followed each child’s lead, adjusting his tone, distance, and pace to meet their comfort level.
Santa showed genuine compassion and awareness, whether that meant speaking softly, giving extra time to warm up, or celebrating small moments in ways that made each child feel seen and valued. Parents could immediately sense his experience and care, and the children responded beautifully to his gentle and respectful approach.
This was more than just a visit with Santa—it was a meaningful, inclusive experience that honored every child exactly as they are. We cannot recommend him highly enough for families and events seeking a Santa who truly understands and connects with children with special needs and sensory sensitivities. 🎅❤️

Our original Santa had to unfortunately cancel--but Santa Rich came to the rescue and provided us with a Santa on little notice. We were grateful to have Santa Rich spread cheer and holiday spirit with our care team members and their families at MUSC Health Chester. We are hoping that Santa Rich will be able to make a visit next holiday season!

About
When I grew a beard after 10 years of not having one, I discovered it came in totally white, as is my hair. My cheeks and dimples, along with my blue eyes and grandpa age (66) gave me a stunning look of the Coca-cola Santa painting. 2 years ago when I volunteered to be Santa for an event downtown to raise money for Salvation Army, I found myself doing more photos than the event's "primary on stage" Santa. Same was true when I visited my grand-daughters school all dressed up for their Christmas program. What does a semi-retired grand-pa do at Christmastime? If he looks like Santa, talks like Santa, and acts like Santa, why not be Santa.

Influences and inspiration
My greatest influence was the gift of the Christ child over 2000 years ago, and my acceptance of that gift when I was 6 years old. As Santa, the movie "Miracle on 34th Street" shows me what Santa should act like.
