You can expect quality music that charms and inspires your audience. We are happy to speak a little in between our songs or simply be in the background to create the right mood. We are very flexible and are happy to do multiple sets or just one song if you need something specific. Currently our entire set list runs about 1.25 hours (but if you have a revolving crowd we can repeat it as many times as needed). Long-distance events or special requests don't scare us but we will be factoring those into the estimate as travel and learning new music can be costly. Contact us and we'll discuss the vision for your event to ensure proper mood, attire, and overall performance!
We are a married couple from central Indiana with background as collegiate percussionists. After Sarah was able to get her own marimba (a large percussion instrument that looks like an oversized xylophone but sounds deeper and more mello) we formed Resonate150 (now Rhythmwood Drive effective 2019). Doug plays cajon (a wooden box that makes sounds like a drumset - but softer!) and other various percussion that adds texture to the music. He also sings and plays guitar. Sarah also added hammered dulcimer recently for even more color! Look for our website at the top to learn even more about us!
Equipment needs:
We can bring our own PA system (portable JBL Eon One) that just requires a 3-prong outlet. We also have 2 Shure57 mics for Doug to use on percussion or for Sarah to use on the dulcimer. If equipment is provided it's great to have a total of 4 mics but not required. The marimba usually doesn't need amplification. The only other thing we require is sufficient lighting to see our instruments (do not need stands, tables, etc)
Our instruments take up some space so we need to ensure the performance area is large enough. Here's our MINIMUM space needed:
With all our stuff - grand total of 20ft long x 10ft deep...we can be split a little but let's discuss that first if needed.
For just Sarah / marimba - 7ft long x 5ft deep
For just Sarah / hammered dulcimer - a 6ft circle
We assemble / disassemble the marimba and can fit through normal doorways.
Please allow 1.5-2 hours for set up and 45m for tear-down.
Please let us know if your venue has special considerations like narrow stairways, a long walk, outdoors**, etc.
**Please note: outdoor settings are seasonal and must be clearly stated by the client at the time of booking. Due to the nature of the instruments we cannot play outdoors in cold or wet weather and certain instruments cannot be in direct sunlight (cover must be available). We reserve the right to decline an outdoor setting if we feel that the instruments are at risk.
