September 25, 2021The first time Rhonda Sciortino spoke for our Global Center for Women and Justice, we were expecting an accomplished business woman who would challenge us to be successful like she was. Instead, we met an honest leader who challenged our minds, touched our hearts and called us to action. The event was our annual Women in Leadership Lecture Series. Rhonda pulled us into her story with the sound of ripping paper as she described the loss of a child victimized by abandonment and abuse. She earned our support as we leaned forward to join her struggle to overcome; and we sat up when she called us to join her mission to make a difference for other children right in our own community! Rhonda will bring together head and heart and people will leave prepared to act!

Rhonda's Purpose:
Rhonda found her purpose at the intersection of her passion for children who have been abused and what she knew about insurance coverage and risk management. At the age of 27, she started the only insurance organization in the US that was founded solely to protect the good people and organizations that care for children who have been abused. She and her team analyzed the ways that children and caregivers get injured or killed and from that data created risk management trainings to prevent tragedy in foster care.
She sold the successful insurance organizations that she founded, and now spends her life writing and speaking to people throughout the US about mining the lessons out of their adversities and using those "assets" to find and fulfill the good purposes for their lives, what Rhonda calls, their "real success."
Rhonda's philanthropy:
Rhonda is the founder of the Successful Survivors Foundation and the national champion for the Love Is Action Community Initiative. She is the creator of the Find Your Purpose program which leads participants through the process of mining the lessons out of difficult times for the purpose of using those priceless character traits, learned abilities and coping skills to create their uniquely successful lives.
In addition to board positions on several private, non-profit child welfare organizations, Rhonda has served as a business liaison for the National Foster Parent Association, as a consultant to many non-profit organizations and ministries, and as a national spokesperson for Safe Families For Children, Royal Family Kids, and Vanguard University's Global Center for Women and Justice.

Rhonda is a recipient of awards for ethical leadership, innovation in business, and for her contributions to child welfare. She has spoken to countless child advocacy groups, child caring organizations, churches, and businesses.

In Rhonda's words....
Abandonment by my parents developed self-reliance. I don't expect anyone to rescue me.
Abuse created in me an empathy that can't be taught in any classroom. It also instilled in me a desire for justice for the mistreated among us.
Poverty taught me to be resourceful and to manage money when I finally started to earn it.
Faith has influenced me since foster parents introduced me to Jesus.
There's much more, but suffice it to say that the strengths that came from adversity served me well when I launched out on my own at 16 and when I started my business in my twenties. I have succeeded Because Of what I've been through! Now I want to help others do the same.
