Overview

We travel to libraries, birthday parties, company picnics and community events where we bring between 9-12 different animals for a hands-on, interactive animal demonstration. We typically bring water turtles, large tortoises, bearded dragons and uromastyx (discussing camouflage, habitat differences, etc), monitor lizards (up to 6.5'), corn snakes, bull snake and a large boa constrictor or a Burmese Python. The only thing we do not let the kids touch are the aquatic turtles since the animals are defensive and would try to bite. We are MD State Wildlife Rehabilitators which utilizes the above animals to help convey the importance of Earth's Biodiversity. We will travel 200+ miles.

Made our 5 year olds birthday party a real hit!

Brian’s reptile show was the highlight of our 5 year old son’s birthday party. The party was small - only 5 kids - and all were riveted by the amazing insects and Brian’s highly engaging way of explaining what made each creature special. The kids and my son are still talking about the event. We took several videos and my son loves watching them And reading the Bug book Brian presented him with afterward. Wonderfully educational entertainment! Would highly recommend.

Informational and a hit with guests!

Reptile Wonders performed a hour demonstration with various reptiles, including a yellow boa, and a very large turtle for our company picnic in 2017. The adults were not as brave as the children, but everyone loved the show and the opportunity to interact with these critters up close. I highly recommend!

Best Reptile Birthday!

I just wanted to thank you so much for the program you did today for our son and his friends. It was a huge hit and everyone had a great time- even the parents! You are wonderful with the children and they learned a lot about the animals. Our son is also really enjoying his book and loved finding in it the reptiles he saw today. The entire process was very easy and I am so pleased with how the party went. He said it was the "best birthday ever" and he felt very special. Thanks so much for what you do! We all really enjoyed it!

What to Expect

We perform many different types of programs.

Hands on Reptile Show: We will bring out 10-13 animals to let everyone touch and handle the animals except the water turtles because they are nippy. It is a fast paced, hands-on, educational program for both children and adults. We work with pre-school age children, elementary, middle, high school students to retirement home aged communities.
(Recommended Audience Size: up to 250 people …ideally smaller sizes are better, since more people can easily touch the animals).

Other Programs:
Amazing Apples Workshop: (Grades pre-K-6, but also good for Oktoberfests and community events) Fall back into the school year by peeling away the mystery of apples and apple cider making. Join us as we take your students through the journey of an apple seed’s life, as it leaves its fellow seeds behind, to sprout forward into the new venture of becoming a tree. The conclusion of the program will be the process of transforming this amazing fruit into fresh cider.
(Recommended Audience Size: up to 35 students for workshops. No limit for Oktoberfest which permits roaming visitors to view how Cider is made and has been made for over 200 years).

Beautiful Bugs: (Grades: pre-K - 12) Delve into the fascinating world of insects. We conduct a hands-on presentation with live insects as we discuss “What makes a bug a bug.” Through question and answer sessions, we engage the students in interactive learning about habitats, camouflage, and predatory/prey relationships as we learn how to live with these six-legged creatures.
(Recommended Audience Size: up to 125 students… ideally smaller sizes are better).

Magnificent Minerals of Maryland Workshop: (Grades K-12) What is a rock? What is a mineral? Learn about the three types of rocks and how they are formed. We bring 150+ lbs of different samples to your classroom to further illustrate the many properties of rocks and minerals of Maryland and surrounding states. We also discuss how these minerals are utilized in the products we see around our homes, (i.e. Light bulbs, paint, pencils, cement, etc.)
(Recommended Audience Size: up to 75 students).

Native American Life of Maryland: (Grades pre-K - 6) We discuss the various lifestyles of the Native Americans found in this region. We discuss the jobs and duties of both the children and adults. Throughout this interactive, interpretive, hands-on session we conduct tool demonstrations as we talk about interesting facts which shaped their pre-colonial lifestyle.
(Recommended Audience Size: up to 125 students).

Virtual Programs: We do Virtual Programs for the following topics:
Reptile Wonders - 30 minute interactive, hands-on video
Beautiful Bugs - 25 minute interactive, hands-on video
Amazing Apples - 15 minute interactive, hands-on video

We look forward to the opportunity of working with you and your guests.
