What to Expect
A Ranger Rick performance is a lot of fun for everyone!! My songs are not the same songs that everyone else plays. I play many popular songs that are crowd favorites Like Margaritaville, Hotel California, Take It Easy (Eagles) and more, but find that audiences really enjoy the upbeat of Boogie Woogie and the soulfulness of the Blues.
Your audience can expect an upbeat positive experience with great songs and some comedy. I'm a very funny guy!!
About
Rick has been playing music his whole life. He started on the piano at a very young age. Rick played drums in the school band and started playing Bluegrass Banjo and Guitar in high school. He started playing professionally in Ft Lauderdale and Key West in the "college" years. Rick now concentrates on playing popular songs with an emphasis on Blues and Boogie Woogie piano.
At Ranger Rick Piano, we have a deep love for live music that fuels everything we do. We believe that there is nothing quite like the energy and excitement of a live performance, and we want to share that experience with as many people as possible.
Our mission is to create a fun atmosphere for audiences of all ages to relax and enjoy the musical experience.
Additional Booking Notes
The only need I have is an outlet to plug my equipment into near the stage area. I also need a flatbed hand truck to move my equipment from my car to the stage area. I mean I'm 70 years old and that stuff is heavy.
Other than that, I am completely self sufficient.

Influences & Inspiration
There are a lot of musicians who have both taught me and influenced me. BB King, Elvin Bishop, Doc Watson, Asleep at the Wheel, Commander Cody....the list is so long.
I've had lessons at the Old Town School of Folk Music on Armitage, I've taken private lessons from Erwin Helfer a well know staple of Chicago Blues Piano.
I am presently taking lessons from a very young but famous stride, boogie piano player in Europe based in Vienna, Austria by the magic of the World Wide Interweb. Just incredible that I would have access to this king of talent.
