PRAIRIE RESCUE BAND

We were looking for a cover band to play my dad's favorite hits for his 80th birthday party, and we hired the Prairie Rescue Band. They were reasonably priced and willing to travel to our small community in KS. The correspondence with John beforehand was great--he checked in several times and I sent him a list of songs my dad likes and they played almost all of them. I was impressed with their set up--they had lights, fog machines, projection, and LOUD speakers. Our space was small, so it was a little too loud for our older crowd, but that was not the band's fault. They play on top of background tracks, which makes it sound like a full band, even though they only had a drummer, a guitarist/fiddle/harmonica/background vocals, and a lead singer. Because they have the tracks, they can pretty much play any song from any genre/era as long as you let them know your expectations ahead of time. Couple of things to be aware of: plan on a couple of hours ahead of your event just for set up. They are older and the equipment is heavy. Also, pick songs that are well known/crowd favorites. Because we had a specialized list, they were hard to sing/unknown to the crowd, so we didn't have a lot of dancing/engaging with the band. Considering they were willing to travel to the middle of nowhere and play songs not so well known (folk rock from the 60's), they did an exceptional job.
