Portraits by Danielle
Overview
Hi, I'm Danielle! I'm a live portrait painter with 20+ years of experience, based in St. Petersburg.
I set up at your event and paint your guests from life, in full color, in about ten minutes each. Everyone I paint takes their portrait home the same night, matted and ready to frame.
Last year Outright International flew me to their 30th annual gala in New York, hosted by Laverne Cox, where I painted close to thirty guests between 6pm and 1am. Closer to home I've worked with Metro Inclusive Health and The James Museum, and I've painted everywhere from punk house shows to black-tie ballrooms.
Rates start at $250/hr. Send me a message and I'll help you work out what fits your guest count!

What to expect
Someone sits down at my easel and their friends gather around to watch a likeness appear out of what looks at first like a colorful mess. Then I turn the board around. Delight and disbelief are common, and so is tearing up, because people sometimes recognize a parent or grandparent in their own face for the first time.
- Six to seven portraits an hour, in full color
- Acrylic on acid-free, archival 140lb paper, dry immediately, no smudging
- Every piece comes in a white mat in a standard frame size, plus a protective sleeve
- 4x6 inches for larger guest counts, or 8x10 for smaller events where each person gets more time
- Additional artists available for bigger rooms, with a month's notice
I also paint weddings as they happen, working off to the side to block in the ceremony on site and finishing the piece in my studio. For events larger than live painting can reach, I can complete the remaining portraits from photographs afterward and ship them.
Weddings, galas, fundraisers, corporate parties, holiday parties and birthdays.
About
I trained as an illustrator at Ringling College of Art and Design while studying the academic realist tradition of drawing and painting from life. Accuracy and likeness are what I built my style around, so I don't exaggerate features or poke fun at anyone. My whole intention in every piece is to honor the person sitting in front of me.
For most of the history of my craft, sitting for an artist meant you were royalty, wealthy, or powerful enough that someone decided your likeness was worth preserving. So I paint regular people, from life, in the middle of their lives. I want you to see yourself the way my tradition only ever saw the powerful: worthy of attention, worthy of time, and with a story worth telling.
Additional booking notes
10% off any booking made before January 1st, 2027!
My station fits in as little as 5x5 feet, though I'll happily take more. I bring my own lighting and power, no outlets needed. I put a rug down so there's nothing to clean up afterward.
I work well alongside photographers and video teams, and I'm happy to coordinate with them in advance. Fully insured through ACT Insurance to $1,000,000, with certificates available naming your venue.
Setup requirements
My setup can be as small as a 2 chairs and a 2'x2' table, but I also provide my own 6'x6' tent, lighting, power, etc!
