September 23, 2026My daughters organized an open-house event for my retirement and engaged Peter & the Wee Beasties to provide background music. The party was in the large foyer of our church, and guests were free to be as close to or away from the band as they wished. The crowd overwhelmingly migrated toward the music, and I heard nothing but good comments from everyone there. Afterwards several stayed over to play along with any of the guests who
wanted to stay for an open session.
Of note- this is a group whose music will not drown out conversation or make it difficult or painful to be close by. It was much more enjoyable than being at an event where the music is over-amped. The members mingled and engaged guests afterwards, answered questions,
and just made the whole time better.

The Wee Beasties came together in traditional Irish sessions, swapping tunes in the aural tradition. We are at home mingling with the crowd and letting our music become part of the ambiance of the space, bringing a cozy intimacy to every gathering.
We are able to bring our own amplification system, which will be included in the quote if needed. This does not cover officiants or DJs unless specifically arranged. Otherwise, we need only area large enough for a table and chairs, and a temperature above 60 degrees!
All tune selections will be traditional Irish folk music from a communal repertoire of non-copyrighted material.
Irish music is closely connected to dance, and tunes are generally sorted by step. If you have a favorite, let us know! These include Jigs, Reels, Slides, Hornpipes, Polkas, Slip Jigs, Waltzes, Marches, Airs, and more.
