Drop me a line. I'd love to work with you! Peter
Peter and the Master keys was an unbelievable hit. The Jazz style Blues was so well done. The musicianship of each player was spot on. We all felt like we went to a private concert and were all VIP’s. Peter was professional, on time, worked with the crowd and was easy to work with. I would recommend him for any affair. Our guest loved him and all were tapping feet and dancing all night long. I am so happy I found Pete on Gigmasters. He was even better in person than seen in his videos. I hope to use him again next year for the same event. No one will be disappointed! What a great find!
Response from Peter and the Master Keys:
Thanks, Janna! We can't wait to come back this year for your holiday party!
We booked Peter and the Master Keys to play at our beer hall Sunday afternoon wedding. The process from beginning to end was wonderful. All throughout Peter made an effort to be as accommodating as possible to all our requests and answer our many questions. On the day of the event they were very professional, arrived on time, dressed for the occasion, and ensured a great sound balance. The performance was amazing, our guests continue raving about the great music. The music set included low-key pieces for cocktail hour and continued with an upbeat set which got everyone dancing. We are so happy to have had them at our event, they were just fantastic.
Response from Peter and the Master Keys:
Thanks so much, Carmen! What a lovely wedding, congratulations!
"Honestly can't say enough about how great these guys are. Peter was super professional and easy to deal with. We found the whole band to be extremely talented and very friendly. Most importantly for us though, they really played a fun and energetic show that had all our guests up and dancing immediately. Everyone had a blast and are still telling me how much they enjoyed our band. Our wedding music was really important to us, so I'm happy to say that these guys knocked it out of the park. Thanks a ton!"
Peter and the band were the 3rd act for my husbands 60th birthday party and they were brilliant. They came in and claimed the stage and brought the party fun up several notches. They are a talented group of musicians and super stylish performers. I would have them back anytime and recommend them 100%. Our friends and family are still talking about the event.
Response from Peter and the Master Keys:
Thanks, Martina! We had a blast playing for you and your family!
Peter, along with all the incredible musicians in the band were amazing in every aspect. Before the wedding Peter and I worked through a variety of details and music ideas to create the night we imagined. With complete professionalism, they were on time, set up quick and each band member we met was truly a joy and excited to be there. This came through in the music. Once the party started we danced all night. I had a steady stream of people telling me how incredible the band is and asking ,"where did you find these guys?" Barb and I had an amazing time and Peter and the band felt like friends that night. and their cool factor is 100. Your new fans, Mark and Samantha
Response from Peter and the Master Keys:
Thanks, Mark! Come and see us at our next show in the city. Drinks on me!

The Master Keys moves seamlessly from jazz classics to early R n B and blues. From Louis Armstrong and Sinatra to Ray Charles and Chuck Berry. With sophisticated and dance-friendly arrangements, the Master Keys sound like a mini big band and are perfect for any event from low-key cocktail parties to hi-energy dance parties.
Peter Maness is an upright bassist, bandleader and singer of jazz and blues. He leads the band Peter and the Master Keys in New York City.
Peter grew up in North Carolina surrounded by great music: his father’s classical record collection, and the blues and bluegrass music that has always been a part of the Carolinas' cultural history. Peter received degrees in both music and Spanish, later teaching high school Spanish for two years. In 2006 he moved to New York City, where he has since played upright bass in various early jazz bands all across the city, and where he has also allowed himself to follow another one of his passions: singing and playing the blues and rock n' roll music of his youth.
Playing the triple role of bandleader, singer, and bassist, he channels and pays tribute to 1950's blues greats like Ray Charles, Johnny 'Guitar' Watson and others with an excitement and verve that is palpable. Now, with the creation of his own six-piece mini big band 'Peter and the Master Keys', which performs Peter's original horn arrangements of 1950's blues songs, New York is beginning to take notice. His band performs in distinguished clubs around the city such as the Manderley bar at The McKittrick Hotel (home of 'Sleep No More') and in performing arts venues like the Coe House on Long Island.
