About
Paula R. Amor the Artist
Paula R. Amor a native of Long Island, New York is an Poet, Author, American Writer and Empowerment Speaker whose career has spanned over 25 years, and has encompassed performing, directing, playwriting, dramaturgy, producing, arts administration, curating and artistic consulting for video productions and artist. Paula’s love affair with the arts began in the early eighties while visiting Broadway productions in New York as a child. Later on in life at the age of 23 Paula pursued a professional dancing career with an Atlanta Dance Studio in 1993. Working on video sets as a dancer and choreographer for Sony Music.
Founder of Platform Builders Inc. a non-profit established in 1999 and CEO of The Vulva Experience launched in 2018 a women’s empowerment platform initiative that advocates for colorful vaginas; Paula started fulfilling her passion to inspire and empower women through her writing and creative platforms. 2018 led Amor to audition for a monologue role that channeled Angela Davis as she would be the actor that would open up for Eve Ansler One Billion Rising and Directors Adele Ulrich and Ray Manlove of HuManUp, reciting Kimberle Crenshaw’s “Respect” monologue. Kimberle’s monologue discusses the abuse, enslavement and the injustices of black vaginas. This production provoked a movement out of Amor to become an advocate for black vaginas. A cancer survivor Amor's mission in life is to create empowerment for women of color through the arts.
Playwright and Director Paula R. Amor A Shero
Playwright and director Paula R. Amor has a fascinating history with the play that inspired When My Vagina Speaks. Amor's very first theatrical debut in the spring of 2011, where she not only wrote and directed the four sold out shows that weekend at the (Red Clay Theater) in Duluth GA, she also played the role of (Brenda) of Xposed What Lies Beneath. With a cast of six gifted Atlanta actors that shared the staged delivering such a stellar performance, Amor was mesmerized by seeing her work displayed on the stage. With several other productions under her belt (I Don't want A Church Man 2013) and (Red Lipstick Monologues 2014). As playwright and director, Amor has a love for performing, mainly for dance and acting. Amor has taken all of her production background and is now focusing on honing her craft as a creative healer.
