Paul Haasch
Overview
Jason Mraz meets Sinatra vibes! A singer-songwriter from Richmond, Virginia that has performed around SoCal in various musical iterations for 20 years, I've got a huge repertoire of classic & modern rock/pop/jazz & country covers suitable for any event! AND, I can play the ukulele! My song list can be found in the last 4 photos of the profile here.
I also sing in an acoustic duo and offer mobile DJ & Karaoke DJ services for event bundles, so feel free to inquire!
Special note- some venues require vendors to have a Certificate of Insurance (COI). It isn’t common for me, but if yours does, I would need to obtain a day of policy, which would need to be added to your specific quote ($150).

January 14, 2024Fantastic!
Paul was absolutely amazing! We had him doing a house party. ALl the guests kept commenting on how good he was. He was very professional, arrived on time, was amenable to changes at the last minute. I highly recommend Paul for your event. His song repertoire goes on and on and he has such a great sound! I can't say enough about how good he was and how he enhanced our party.

January 7, 2024Thank You Paul! 💕
Paul is an extremely talented musician and is sure to elevate any event experience. We thoroughly enjoyed having Paul at our event. In addition to being a talented musician, it was clear from spending just a few hours with him that he is also a very kind human. ☺️
Throughout the planning process, Paul was professional, flexible and accommodating. We hosted a Celebration of Life and he picked the perfect set list, creating an atmosphere that felt at once nostalgic, familiar, warm and comforting. I’m tearing up just thinking about it.
Additionally, he showed up early and was all set up well before our event began and continued playing until the event ended. He was also very flexible and easy going throughout the event, pausing as needed so the family could make speeches and announcements. It was just the attitude and approach our family needed during such a difficult day.
We received so many compliments on the music and are grateful to have found a musician like Paul to be at our event. In fact, my husband and I are already trying to find an excuse to host another event (perhaps for a lighter occasion) so we can have him play for us again.
Thank you for taking such great care of us, Paul!

May 21, 2023The best musician we could have hired for our wedding!!
Where do we start!? Well I can start by saying Paul was one of the easiest people to work with in terms of vendors for our wedding. He was extremely attentive, kind, and responsive. Unlike a lot of our other vendors, I did not have to reach out to Paul first.
Paul played at our wedding BEAUTIFULLY. He offered to learn our wedding song for us to be able to sing it for our processional/recessional and he sang it absolutely amazingly, we could not have asked for better. The music he chose to fill the rest of our event during cocktail hour and mingling was tasteful, fun and our guests absolutely loved it. Immediately following our wedding and in the days now passing, we have heard so many times “the musician was absolutely incredible.” And we couldn’t agree more. My husband and I are so happy we chose Paul for our special day and he shined so bright in the Olivas Adobe. We would recommend him a million times for anyone looking for an acoustic musician with an incredible voice for their event. :)

December 7, 2025Perfect for a Small Gathering
Paul arrived as expected, set up, warmed up and was ready to go on time. He played Christmas music because it was a Holiday Party for 50 guests. His voice is very good, his guitar playing is excellent, and the guests at the party were very complimentary. One guest inquired as to his availability for her party the next day. (not sure what that outcome was). I would definitely use Paul Haasch again!

October 21, 2025Great performance
He brought our gathering together with charm and grace. He played on 2 separate levels on the house. His timing and performance could not be better. Had our group singing together arm to arm. Really fun. Good music we all knew and loved. Had quite a large folio to choose from. He chose because we liked his list. Highly recommend!

What to expect
I am an experienced, caring and down-to-earth professional. Since I've been performing for what feels like my whole life, I have a very large and diverse collection of songs for any type of event and age group.
I will be mindful to cater any and all song choices per client request, and am ready and willing to learn specific covers if time allows! You can expect a broadly talented acoustic guitarist who sings, and loves nothing more than being totally prepared.
About
Raised in the 80's, I was lucky enough to be surrounded by a diverse amount of music growing up, from The Police and Genesis to Lovin' Spoonful and The Mamas & Papas. I can still remember my mother singing harmony as she played through cassette tape after cassette tape of nearly every Beatles record. A chorus singer up until she graduated from a small college in Wisconsin- her passion became mine. You can find little hearts and circles scratched clumsily in pen on the vinyl records she passed down to me from her own childhood. Consequently, it would have been a sin not to at least pursue a career in the arts, if just for her.
Having parents who nurtured and supported my love for the arts, I started early, from middle school choirs to high school show choir and local musicals. As a sophomore in high school, I took part in the local “Channel 8 Rising Stars” competition just outside of Richmond, VA and was a runner-up out of several hundred finalists. I finally knew I could be good. Following the rage of the time, I was briefly in a boy band called Up Close and a 50's a capella group called The Chorduroys, but when I graduated high school in Midlothian, Virginia I knew I needed to leave home to hone my craft.
The four years in Coral Gables at the University of Miami were the best in my life, and the Frost School of Music was no slouch. That's where I met a fantastic professor by the name of David Ganon, who taught “Songwriting 101” and opened up my world. While I had written vague and jumbled excuses for songs before I never truly had a format, nor did I have anyone to listen to and critique them. Professor Ganon gave me just that- cultivating my ear and my pen. Suddenly the more I listened to music the more I understood what I liked or didn't like- and why. At that moment, I knew I would write my own songs...
After graduating with a Bachelor's Degree in Music Paul moved to Los Angeles and did the acting thing. Because that's what you do, right? Eventually, he settled back into his first love-music. Starting at open mics, he quickly found himself with a full band behind him at places like Room 5, The Viper Room and Hotel Cafe. In 2010, he released a solo EP called "Secure Heart Borders" that he is extremely proud of, and from there he had the pleasure of being a part of several different musical outlets. Paul performed with his best friend in a comedy rock band Paul & The Kir, releasing a full album called “Take over the Universe”, then in a folk duo called Love Letters, where they debuted a self titled EP in 2014, and finally in a folk duo The Fair Wells, which has released an EP titled "Hurricane".
He currently performs at weddings and private parties as a soloist and with another musical theatre-bred singer, Janelle DeJohn, and regularly teams up with film-makers/composers to aid their projects with his musical talents. Some Wednesdays you can even find Paul on the 3rd Street Promenade in Santa Monica busking his butt off- so come and say hi! If there is one thing he's realized after all these years of making music, it's that he simply loves performing it. Music is his soul food...
Additional booking notes
I am a singer with a microphone and a guitar. I have a very powerful PA sound system for a medium/large space, and several smaller amps for lesser gigs. Just show me a 3-prong outlet and I'll show your people a good time.
That being said, I DO also have a powerful battery powered amp if electricity is an issue, i.e. a surprise on the beach or hike or something else spontaneous! We can talk about it, of course.

Show me one outlet to plug into (or I have a pretty good battery powered amp) and I'm good to go. Also would be nice to have a little shade if the event is outdoors..
