Overview
I'm a bassist, music producer, sound engineer, and classically trained musician with a strong ear. I can read scores or charts if necessary, and enjoy doing my homework for gigs. I've managed my own bands and worked within established ones, so I know how to conduct myself and manage relationships with success in mind.
I'm punctual, reliable, and take jobs seriously, no "flake factor." I have a variety of instruments to suit different genres, including electric upright bass and even Stick, and I'll work in either traditional or silent stage environments.
I also can do sound for gigs for anything from a living room or coffeehouse up to an audience size of 250+.

About
I've been a musician since childhood, playing whatever I could get my hands on, with varying degrees of success. I would sing whatever I heard, and developed a knack for listening to pop records and then playing them back on clarinet. I trained in school band and orchestras up to the college level, and during high school sat first chair in the All-Virginia Band for two years in a row.
I took up bass in college, playing in pit orchestras for two different theater companies on shows such as Pippin, A Chorus Line, and Jesus Christ Superstar. In the mid-1990s I was a band member for some heavily working local acts, and in one particular year while still holding down a day job, I managed to play over 150 gigs as well. During the 2000s my musical pursuits comprised backing up many talented DC-area singer/songwriters, and in the 2010s I was holding down the bass seat for several popular central Virginia acts like The Blues Buckets and The Acoustic Onion.
Over time I built up a modest but well-equipped home recording studio, through which I've explored my interests in providing remote tracking and other contributions for other people's projects; recording video learning materials; and creating my own ambient, cinematic, and retrowave tracks. By mixing in the managerial skills I've developed in my day job, I've also begun to develop, coach, and produce other artists to bring out their best and help them learn and grow.
My background has offered me many wonderful opportunities to become a well rounded musician and that breadth of experience is what I hope to bring to any client to make their show a success.
