Overview
Paromita Kar is a dancer, choreographer and dance ethnographer. She holds a PhD (Dance Studies) and an MA (Dance) from Department of Dance, York University, Canada. Paromita offers unique dance performances, ranging from classical Indian dance to traditional Rajasthani dance to Bollywood. Bollywood performances range from traditional Bollywood to modern, as well as fusion Bollywood and Bollywood-Middle Eastern dance fusions.

I organized a Bollywood-themed Ladies’ Night/fundraiser and hired Paromita to do a performance and also teach the ladies some Bollywood moves. Paromita is a gifted dancer/performer. We could have watched her all night. She is also a wonderful teacher and kept the group engaged in learning a short routine. The ladies had so much fun! Paromita is responsive, on-time and extremely professional. I highly recommend Paromita - she is a doll and she was a pleasure to work with. Thank you Paromita!

We hired Paromita to teach us Bollywood style dance for a bachelorette party. Right from the get-go I could tell that Paromita is a true professional both in dance as well as a business-woman. She is reliable, personable and of course a very talented dancer!
We had a great time learning the many different dance moves and will likely try to replicate the dance she taught us at the upcoming wedding!

About
Paromita is a versatile professional dance, who performs several dance forms, including classical Indian dance, Bollywood dance, traditional Rajasthani dance, Bollywood fusions, Central Asian dances and Middle Eastern dance. She is the recipient of the Canada Council Grant to Dance Professionals (2015), Shastri Indo-Canadian Fine Arts Fellowship for Dance ((phone number hidden)2), and the Lawrence Heisey Award (2009).
She has performed in Canada, United States, India, Czech Republic and Netherlands. Select past performances include the Canadian National Exhibition, Royal Ontario Museum's Asian Heritage initiatives, Toronto International Youth Dance Festival, Caf' Conc Theatre and La Salle Oscar Pearson in Montreal, the Choreography Festival in India, Toronto International Fringe Festival, the Horizon Soloist Series at Sampradaya Theatre, and the Agha Khan Museum.
