About

Ossie Dellimore is a St. Vincent-born roots reggae artist whose musical journey spans decades and continents. After moving to Brooklyn, New York, in 1981, Dellimore established himself as a singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, developing a distinctive sound grounded in roots reggae and Caribbean musical traditions. His early career included years of live performances throughout New York City, and in 1990 he won the Caribbean Amateur Night at the Apollo Theater—an important milestone that helped establish him as a compelling performer and emerging reggae talent.

Dellimore's major recording breakthrough came in the late 1990s through his association with Easy Star Records. His 1997 single "Time Has Come" became part of the label's formative catalog and was subsequently featured on Easy Star Volume One. In 2000, he released his debut album, Freedom's Journal, with the Soldiers of Justice, presenting a powerful roots-reggae sound centered on themes of freedom, consciousness and social justice. The album was later reissued by Skank Records with additional material, further expanding its reach among roots reggae audiences.

In 2010, Dellimore returned with Reggae Music, a substantial follow-up featuring original songs and dub versions, reinforcing his reputation as an artist committed to meaningful songwriting and authentic roots reggae. The 2026 release of his newest song “Ethiopia Rejoice” and remastered versions from his catalog continue the authentic roots tradition and have seen airplay and accolades from audiences world wide. His music addresses universal themes including freedom, love, spirituality, injustice and social responsibility, delivered through a strong, soulful tenor voice and an unmistakably Caribbean perspective. Today, Dellimore's musical legacy continues through his recordings and performances with High Tribe, connecting his decades-long roots-reggae journey with new audiences while preserving the conscious, positive message at the heart of his artistry.
