Olivia Moaddel

I always come early to an event to ensure I know where I will be playing. I always come dressed well, usually in black unless otherwise requested by the client. I like to communicate with the venue beforehand so I know what to expect, but either way, I try to connect with any coordinator upon arrival so contacting the client is not necessary on their big day!

Before the event, I am always happy to take requests or hop on the phone for a call so I know I am providing everything you are looking for on the day of your event.

Olivia Van Mater (most know as Olivia Moaddel) began studying the violin at age 4. She has studied extensively with renowned performers and teachers Augustin Hadelich, James Ehnes, Yehonatan Berick, Katie Lansdale, Ronald Copes, Lucie Robert, David Kim, and many more. She has performed for some of the most well known ensembles such as the American Quartet, St. Lawrence Quartet and Dover Quartet. From (phone number hidden)9, she was a recording violinist for film and TV composer John Delvento, where she recorded for National Geographic and the Super Bowl. In the summers of 2019 and 2021, she played as a full time performer in productions of The Scottsboro Boys and Into The Woods with the Playhouse Theatre Group Inc in West Hartford, CT. She has performed with orchestra such as the Curtis Symphony Orchestra, Symphony in C, Connecticut Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra and Ottawa Symphony Orchestra. She is currently concert master for the Dutchess Symphony Orchestra in the Hudson Valley. In March of 2021, she performed the Tchaikovsky’s String Sextet “Souvenir de Florence” with renowned musicians Axel Strauss, Joel Quarrington, Paul Marelyn, and Rachel Mercer. In May of 2021, she was a finalist in the National Arts Centre Bursary Competition. She is currently part of the violin faculty at the Bard Conservatory Preparatory Division. She has recently founded a Piano Trio, where the hopes are to perform in venues around the world and enter global competitions.

Her education consists of a Bachelors of Music in Violin Performance from The Hartt School, a Masters in Violin Performance from University of Ottawa, an Accelerated Artist Diploma in Orchestral Performance from OAcademy Live and a Doctorate of Musical Arts in Violin Performance at Rutgers University. Her aspirations as a musician involve performing, inspiring others, and giving the opportunity for those around her to play and listen to beautiful music. She currently resides in the beautiful Hudson Valley with her husband.

I don't usually need any microphones or amps for amplification of sound. The violin generally carries quite well in wedding venues, even outside. The only thing I require is a place to stand in the shade in case of extreme heat/sun or rain. My instrument cannot withstand extreme weather!
