Event planners want musicians who make their event smoother, more engaging, and more professional, and I offer exactly that. I bring reliability, clear communication, and the discipline that comes from performing in multiple ensembles where timing and coordination matter.

My versatility across jazz, fusion, and funk means I can match the atmosphere of a wide range of events, from receptions to showcases to community gatherings. I deliver polished, energetic performances shaped by years of ensemble work, giving planners confidence that I will elevate the room rather than simply fill space. My collaborative experience with the 5th Mode Collective, The Towson Trio, and many different ensembles shows that I work easily with directors, and bandmates reducing stress for planners who juggle many moving parts.

I also provide straightforward technical needs and flexibility, which helps planners avoid last‑minute surprises. Most importantly, my rhythmic identity and ability to connect with audiences ensure their event feels memorable, cohesive, and professionally executed.

Nicholas Tims is a drummer, and arranger whose work bridges jazz, funk, fusion, and collaborative improvisation. As the lead drummer for the 5th Mode Collective and The Towson Trio, he’s become a driving force in Baltimore County's emerging music scene, performing across campus venues, local stages, and his home community, performing most times at In the Light Baltimore.

A multi-ensemble performer since his freshman year in high school, Nicholas has played in symphony orchestras, wind ensembles, steel pan ensemble, jazz bands, and rock workshop settings, and experiences that shaped his versatility and musical voice. He is currently earning his bachelor’s degree in music performance at Towson University, where he continues to refine his craft in drums, percussion, composition, and arranging.

Nicholas is building a career as a freelance musician, collaborator, and touring performer, committed to creating music that connects people and elevates the craft.

My technical requirements are simple and designed to make setup easy for event planners. I can perform using my very own drum kit. I only need a stable, level stage area large enough for a standard kit and clear sightlines to other musicians. My sound needs are minimal and usually don't have a sound system for my drums, though I can work with a full drum mic package if the venue provides one. I don’t require special lighting; standard stage lighting is enough as long as I can see any charts if needed, and I have no power requirements. Setup typically takes 15–20 minutes, with breakdown around the same time. Overall, my gear is lightweight, flexible, and easy to integrate into any event, helping planners avoid complications and keep transitions smooth.
