Studio Preview: Common Ground

Overview

When you hire me, you get a tailor-made show. I do everything I can to help you make the most of your event. I am currently performing as a solo artist, and I do own a compact sound system I can use when needed to support my show. I play acoustic guitar and digital piano, and I can do originals and a variety of covers from 70’s to present. Others who have booked me and/or my band received "a polished tight performance, thoughtful original lyrics, and humble...the total package," "fresh sound, powerful lyrics," "great to work with: flexible and professional."

What to expect

My solo show provides an acoustic, indie folk style with a mix of original and well-known cover songs. I sing and play acoustic guitar, and if there is room for a stage piano in the space I will use that as well. I am very relational and community focused. I work hard to provide a great show that entertains and engages people while also giving voice to common struggles and hope. My goal as an entertainer is to serve others, and I love to connect with my fans afterwards as well. When needed, I am able to provide my own sound system to support my show. Last but not least, I like to be on the early side of punctual, and I work to communicate well so you are comfortable and have no surprises.

About

Born in the mountains of Colorado, raised in northeast Oklahoma, and currently based in Chicago, IL, Nicole Kelley paints her sound canvas with a variety of experiential colors. Her songwriting palette incorporates a spectrum of influences ranging from folk, singer-songwriter, and Americana to occasional hints of blues. With songs written on acoustic guitar and piano, her recordings feature her soulful poetry and her love of all things community, complemented by rich instrumentation filling in each musical picture she paints. Her live solo events add a vibe of authentic relatability, and she loves to connect with her audience in any venue.

Additional booking notes

All I really need is electricity. It is helpful to know the area of the stage plot—I need to know if there is room for my keyboard.

If the venue has a sound system, I need four channels in: 2 microphones, one for acoustic guitar and one for keyboard. I would also need someone to mix for me.

If I need to provide my own sound system, I have a mixer that attaches to my mic stand and I can mix my own sound.

If the event is outdoors, I need some sort of shade, as I do not want my instruments in direct sunlight. I have a pop up I can bring if needed. I just need advance notice and there may be an extra charge for that, especially if it is a long carry from my vehicle to the stage area.
