Nicole Heker

Hello!

My name is Nicole Heker and this year I completed a task I once thought was impossible for "someone like me." I rode my bicycle from Thailand to Spain, through 22 countries, most of which was done 100% alone. As someone who never owned a bicycle before this trip, nor camped alone– especially in wild and foreign lands, many were doubtful that I would be successful. As was I. But a university professor gave me a challenge– unlearn everything. To me this meant, stories about how the world works and my place within it. About who I am. So, on March 8, the International Day of the Woman, I began. I ventured into the unfamiliar and met tough challenges, exquisite beauty, and a shift in self. On the 7 of August I arrived at my final destination in Spain a changed person. Now I'm going around the States talking abut my experience, about changing your story and overcoming adversity.
