What to Expect

When you hire Sol Aromatics, participants receive a fully guided, hands-on natural perfume-making experience designed to be engaging, creative, and memorable.

I bring the perfume materials, blending supplies, scent strips, bottles, and everything needed for the experience. Participants are introduced to a curated selection of botanical essences, learn how fragrance is structured, explore the materials at their own pace, and create a perfume that reflects their individual preferences.

Throughout the experience, I guide the group through smelling, testing, and blending, helping each participant make choices that feel personal. The atmosphere is relaxed and interactive, with plenty of opportunity for conversation, discovery, and creativity.

The experience is designed to feel both polished and personal, giving participants something enjoyable to do together while also leaving with a fragrance they created themselves.

I’m Susan Farber, founder of Sol Aromatics, a natural perfumer and Certified Aromatherapist offering immersive perfume-making experiences and aromatherapy workshops throughout California’s Central Coast.

My love of fragrance began in childhood with a small perfume kit, and over the years I studied natural perfumery and aromatherapy with respected teachers, including advanced training in aromapsychology through the Tisserand Institute.

As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, I also bring experience in group facilitation and a deep understanding of the connection between scent, memory, emotion, and well-being. This background shapes how I guide each experience, helping guests feel comfortable, engaged, and creatively supported.

I handcraft natural perfumes and incense using thoughtfully sourced botanical materials and also create my own tinctures and natural absolutes using traditional perfumery methods. In each workshop, I guide guests through the creative process of blending a fragrance that is uniquely their own.

Sol Aromatics experiences are well suited for private celebrations, bridal gatherings, wedding weekends, retreats, corporate groups, wellness events, and special occasions throughout Solvang, the Santa Ynez Valley, Santa Barbara, Montecito, and California’s Central Coast.

Notes and Technical Info

Sol Aromatics perfume-making experiences are designed to be easy to host and do not require a stage, sound system, or special lighting.

The client or venue provides a comfortable scent-free space with tables and chairs for all participants and adequate lighting for blending. The space should be free from candles, diffusers, incense, strongly scented flowers, cleaning products, or other fragrances that could interfere with evaluating the perfume materials.

I provide the botanical essences, scent strips, blending tools, bottles, and other perfume-making materials needed for the experience.

Indoor spaces are ideal. Outdoor events can work if there is shade, protection from wind, and no direct sun on the perfume materials or participants’ blending area. Heat and sunlight can affect the materials, while wind can make scent evaluation more difficult.

Each participant needs enough table space to comfortably smell, test, and blend their perfume. The setting should also allow participants to remain seated together during the guided experience.

I arrive in advance to set up the perfume materials and organize the blending stations. After the experience, I pack up all materials and supplies.

For mobile events, the client is responsible for securing the venue or event space. Sol Aromatics can travel to private homes, vacation rentals, wineries, hotels, retreat properties, and other appropriate venues throughout California’s Central Coast.
