What to expect
As a solo guitarist, I provide a chord melody approach to my playing. This style derives from classical and jazz roots. The purpose of this playing is to make one instrument produce many voices and sound completely full without other accompaniment. Services include learning any new piece for your event as well as providing a repertoire from which to make selections if necessary. I provide all of my own equipment.
About
Nathan Towne was born in California where he began taking piano lessons from his mother at age 5. At age 8 his family hosted a foreign exchange student from Japan who traveled with an acoustic guitar, showing Nathan cowboy chords and introduced him to guitar greats like Jimi Hendrix and Eric Clapton. By age 13, Nathan was playing electric guitar with his fathers' bands...learning the art of the “gig”. At 16, he studied with a jazz guitarist and began cutting his teeth as a solo guitarist all over the Central Coast of California in wineries, restaurants, clubs and private events.
Nathan is sought after for his versatility and innovation as a musician. He is as comfortable in a hard rock band as he is in a jazz ensemble or as a soloist.
In 2009, Nathan met Tony Harmon and began performing and composing with him. Together, they went on to open at the 2015 La Guitarra California Festival for the Romero Quartet and are looking forward to a 2019 performance at the South Bay Guitar Society in San Jose as well as the 2020 La Guitarra California Festival.
Nathan now lives in Northern Michigan where he works as a solo guitarist, composer, recording musician, and music teacher. Also, Nathan is touring and composing as bassist for the international rock band Blind Melon.
