Nathan Shute Photography is a husband/wife team that specializes in wedding, event, and portrait photography!
We had the pleasure of working with Nathan and his lovely wife Brianna for our wedding on Table Rock Beach in Laguna Beach. We have only great things to say about them both. They were professional, talented, fun and captured the perfectness of our special day, not to mention the pictures are stunning! The only problem we have is trying to decide which photos to use in our album because they are all great. Thanks for giving us memories that will last a lifetime and keep up the great work!!
I recently went down to California for my friend's wedding. Nate took their pictures, and oh my goodness they were amazing. Like they belong in a magazine.
Nate has been taking our family pictures for awhile, and now our family is growing. I asked if he would take my maternity pictures. He had never done them before, but he never backs away from a challenge. I also wanted my 2 year old daughter in the pictures.... He was soooo patient and got amazing pictures of the both of us.
I am constantly impressed with his level of professionalism, eye for detail, amazing attitude, and the willingness to get the perfect shot under all circumstances.
I plan on using Nate for all my future photo shoots, no matter where I have to fly to.
Thank you so much for capturing some of our most precious moments. Hire Nate, you won't be disappointed.

"My name is Nathan Shute, I am a photographer, and I couldn’t be happier."
That’s something I’ve wanted to say for a long time. Though the time it covers may be short, my story is a long one.
I’ll keep it brief, but let me start towards the beginning…
I come from a town just outside of Seattle, Washington. Grew up there, played baseball there, graduated there, went to college there, and couldn’t wait to get out of there. I thought I loved it; even up to just a couple years ago. Let me explain.
When I got out of school, I was lucky to get a good job, a really good job. I started working at the Boeing Company in Everett, WA. I thought this was it! This is the job I can stay at for the rest of my life. Never have to worry about money! Life is easy!
I was wrong.
Yeah, I could’ve stayed there. I could’ve made a lot of money. I could’ve been happy. But I wasn’t fulfilled.
So, I decided to take a huge pay cut and join the army. I needed to do something to better myself and maybe do something that mattered. I did what I could. Got an awesome job in Army Intel. Made some awesome friends that have been huge influences in my life (even though now I rarely talk to them). Things were looking great.
Well, the army endeavor ended abruptly for me when I tore 90% of the meniscus tissue in my right knee and broke a bone in my foot. I was done.
Back to square one. In a job I was grateful for, but wasn’t right for me… the same situation that led me to take a leap toward fulfillment in the army.
I couldn’t continue this. I was depressed. I knew it too. I couldn’t deal with it anymore. I needed to get out. I needed to do something to fulfill myself.
I should explain something... I am what some people call gifted. Really all that means is that I think differently than most. The way I see the world is different from almost everyone else. I see things with more emotion than most people. Things you wouldn’t look twice at, I can’t get past. Sometimes that’s a good thing, but often times I feel it holds me back. That’s why I couldn’t continue working at Boeing.
Like I said earlier, I could’ve stayed there, but I wasn’t truly happy. For a person like me, you get angry when things hold you back. People like me don’t like to feel tied down. I’m always in pursuit of that elusive fulfillment. That’s when I decided to pick up my camera and make my own life. I needed to be my own boss. I needed the freedom to express myself in my work. I needed to feel free.
Depression is a powerful disease. That’s a really hard thing for me to say. Ask anyone that really knows me; they’ll let you know, I was the first one to tell you “Quit whining, you’re just feeling sorry for yourself!” I told myself that for years. It led me down a dark path. I’m happy to say that I have emerged; through to the other side… the side of happiness and fulfillment. I am my own boss, I report to nobody, and I love that.
I have a long road ahead of me. I’m working toward a goal. I want to be one of the greats. I want people to know my name. I won’t kid myself though. It will take a lot of hard work, a lot of dedication, and a lot of time. I might never even get there, but I’m ready for the battle, and I’ll never give up. Photography is so much more than a job for me. It's my life. It's what makes me truly happy.
I only am telling you this because I know that this story (the full length story) has inspired others to follow their dreams. That means more to me than anything. I want to inspire others. I want to be there for people that are in the position I was in. I know how hard it is to deal with. I know that it feels like there’s no way out; but there is. And if I can be the one to let you know that, I feel that fulfillment I am always searching for. That’s what I live for.
The quote I put on this site isn’t just some random quote I found while searching the Internet that I thought sounded catchy. I don’t even like quotes! But, it was spoken by one of history’s greatest minds, Steve Jobs. I use it because it’s the way I look at life. You only get one! Don’t live it to keep up with other people’s standards of how you should live. Live your life for you. Help others. Do good things. Good things WILL happen for you.
"Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life" - Steve Jobs
