Overview
David Hornung, performing as a solo artist under the name of "Musical Memories", plays popular cover tunes from the early 1900's - 1970's, including familiar cover tunes, Big Band ballroom dance pieces and traditional ethnic music. The entire performance is on a fully midi-accordion, so the sound is high quality and delivered professionally. He performs for small and large groups in a variety of venues within the Fraser Valley, and travels from Abbotsford within Lower Mainland of British Columbia.

March 28, 202590th Birthday Surprise!
Such a pleasure to work with Musical Memories in planning our 90th birthday party for Dad. Dave came up with a toe-tapping set list that offered something for everyone (great-grandchildren, 30's, 60's and seniors). He even played a special request that we all sang along to. There was dancing and laughing along with just allowing some songs to be background music.
Dave provided a professional sound system scaled to the size of our party space and the music he made sounded like we had a multi-piece band in the house.
Dave is friendly and accommodating. He was happy to work with us to plan the party entertainment and kindly showed the kids a closeup look at his pretty amazing accordion. We had a fun and memorable day and I'm so happy to have connected with Musical Memories. I hope that we have an opportunity to work together again.

Dave is a great guy to hire for your next party, event or celebration! His musical repertoire is large and he has an innate sense of just what type of music will be best for each type of occasion. We hired him to play background music for my parents 60th wedding anniversary and it turned out to be an awesome event largely due to the wonderful mood that Dave set with his accordion. He is willing to go out of his way to make things work. We didn't have electricity at our venue to he brought along a battery powered speaker so that he could have just the right amount of volume on his background music to set the mood while we were eating. He was on time, on budget and cheerful throughout all of our interactions, just wanting to please. I would highly recommend Dave for your next party.

Thanks again to Dave for providing the perfect entertainment for our client appreciation event at the Chilliwack Corn Maze and Pumpkin Farm again this year. This was a repeat engagement and once again Dave arrived with everything he needed to provide a great musical background for our gathering. He was completely independent, prompt, and with a good variety of familiar tunes pleasing to our guests from little ones to seniors. What to expect
You can expect to be surprised by the quality of the music. As each venue is different, you can expect the presentation be personalized. My goal, with a little preparation and collaboration with the Event Planner, is to play music compatible with the theme of the celebration or favorite pieces of music requested by the guest of honor. Some examples of themes are: Oktoberfest, Romance, Canada Day, War Years, 50's Sock Hop, Hawaiian, 60/70's and Hippy Era, St. Patrick's or Robbie Burns Days, etc.
My stage time is almost continuous music except for short announcements (when appropriate). I can be expected to arrive early to set up, and be ready to start on time. If the booking is longer than the one (1) hour minimum, I do take a 10 minute convenience break each hour.
For larger events, a Service Contract between each party will be expected.
About
When I was 8 years old, I started taking music lessons and playing an acoustic accordion. I progressed quickly, and, at 16 years of age, played in a dance band and assisted my music teacher instruct younger students.
Currently, I play a Roland V-Accordion with it's authentic accordion and orchestra sounds. The technological advances in the Roland MIDI accordion have allowed me to tailor and personalize my music to your specific requirements. My easy listening music sets generally have a good blend of music selections from various genres and time periods. Naturally, the dance sets cover the popular Ballroom dancing steps.
I am available throughout the week to play for special occasion parties and events such as birthdays, anniversaries, high tea, fashion show, background music and dance music. While I play mostly at retirement facilities residences within the region, but I do play during the reception and meals at weddings and special events like New Year's Eve or corporate events. I am available for other venues within the Lower Mainland of British Columbia too.
Additional booking notes
The Roland V-Accordion comes with on board adjustable speakers that are adequate for a smaller, more intimate gathering. (Example: background dinner music) The footprint space needed to accommodate the equipment is about 10 x 6 feet (3x2 meters). Plug in power is required for this setup.
For larger crowds (over 50 to 350 persons) and venues, a sound system will be required. There will be an additional cost associated with this requirement. The foot print for this additional equipment is about 10 x 10 feet square. Plug in power is required. Access to the staging area for set up/sound check etc. is required at least one (1) hour before starting time. Normally, take down and exiting the venue is less than one (1) hour. Easy access to exit without interfering with your guests is greatly appreciated.
