We are classically trained musicians with collectively over 20 years experience in Celtic traditional music. This includes knowledge in performance practice and history in various regional styles throughout the world. From Ireland and Scotland, to France, Spain, Canada, and beyond.

Therefore, not only are we able to deliver a high caliber performance for bars, wineries, corporate events, etc; but we also love to speak and engage with the audience, providing education on the genre and entertaining with fun stories of our travels and experiences.

In honor of traditional Celtic music, MR breathes new life into the genre through original voices. With new, original constructions of established standards, MR aims to explore the inherent energy and versatility of Celtic styles from around the world.

The duo consists of Joel Tyrone Myers and John Robey, both core performers and leaders of nationally recognized bands The Founding and On The Lash. During their time in these bands, Joel and John have traveled coast to coast, performing at the Yachats Celtic Festival in Oregon, the Austin Celtic Festival, the Celtic Classic in Pennsylvania, the Michigan Irish Music Festival, and many more. Now, MR seeks to share their experiences and ever-growing love for the genre far and wide through intimate concerts, lectures, and workshops. Their recorded works include The Founding’s award winning album Form. (2017), as
well On The Lash’s single Dog in the Distance (2022)

We are able to provide our own sound system when necessary, though we usually require an extra fee for this service.
