Academy Award winning Special Effects Coordinator Dieter Sturm will transform your thought process by using simple techniques to spark your creative and take your idea and move it into reality. Currently, Dieter is President of Sturm’s Special Effects International, Inc., based in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. Founded in 1984, Dieter has been involved in creating dazzling live-action special effects for just over 100 motion pictures, television shows, hundreds of TV commercials, still photographs, music videos, and special projects.

Dieter’s long list of credits include The Green Book, Fences, Superman Man Of Steel, Transformers 3, Fargo, Office Christmas Party, Horse Whisperer, True Lies, Major League, Simple Plan, Planes, Trains & Automobiles, Hallmark Movie of the Week, Ophra, Rescue 911, Unsolved Mysteries, McDonalds, Sears, Citi-Corp and dozens more.

In 1995, Dieter earned an Academy Award (presented to by Jamie Lee Curtis) in Scientific & Technical Achievement for his development work in biodegradable snow materials for the motion picture industry.

Dieter’s creative humor was discovered by producers of LATE NIGHT with David Letterman (NBC) while they were staging a show in Chicago. Dieter was invited to New York City where he appeared as a guest on 4 shows though out the early-mid ‘90s. Interviewed by Letterman, Dieter explained the secrets of “how special effects were created” and proceeded to explode odd food items and appliances with Dave.

Working as a publicist prior to his special effects career, Dieter was responsible for communicating positive management philosophies to the media, trades, and the public nationally and worldwide. He developed and executed affirmative action programs to enhance company images, featured on the FRONT PAGE of BILLBOARD Magazine for his PR stunts, in addition to developing crisis PR management programs to counter-act activist group controversies that pose problems to company image and sales.
