May 16, 2025Mike's Speech Ignites Resilience and Hope!"
We had the privilege of having Mike deliver a motivational speech to our group of friends, and this greatly impacted our guests. Mike spoke about how, amidst adversities, even after losing everything, one can rebuild. He emphasized the importance of resilience and challenging oneself to persevere and move forward.
His message resonated deeply with everyone present. Mike's ability to connect with the audience, sharing personal anecdotes and practical insights, created an environment of inspiration and encouragement. Many of our guests left feeling empowered, motivated to tackle their own challenges with renewed vigor. The feedback was overwhelmingly positive, with several attendees expressing how they felt a newfound sense of purpose and determination.
I highly recommend Mike for any event where motivation and inspiration are needed. His words have a unique way of igniting a spark in people, encouraging them to rise above their circumstances and strive for greatness. Thank you, Mike, for sharing your wisdom and passion with us!"

May 16, 2025Hey everyone, I just wanted to take a moment to talk about someone who truly made an impact on me, Mike. I had the chance to hear him speak recently, and honestly, I’m still thinking about it. His story… it’s not just inspiring, it’s real. You could feel the emotion, the strength, and the truth behind every word he said. He didn’t come with just a script or rehearsed lines, he showed up with his heart. He spoke about pain, about struggle, about pushing through things that would’ve broken most people and somehow, he turned all of that into purpose. I could see people in the Zoom tearing up, nodding their heads, relating to what he was saying. It wasn’t just motivation, it was healing. It was permission to grow, to change, and to believe in yourself again. What I loved the most is how personal it felt, even through a screen. You’d think being virtual might create some distance, but no, his presence fills the room. He makes you reflect. He makes you want to do better, be better, and live better. If you’re looking for a speaker who’s going to show up with truth, with power, and with the ability to change lives, even through a Zoom call Mike is it. No question!!

May 12, 2025We had the privilege of hosting Mike for a keynote on overcoming adversity, and the impact on our students was nothing short of transformational. From the moment he stepped on stage, he commanded the room with raw honesty, passion, and a message that hit home. Mike didn’t just share a story—he brought us into the trenches of his toughest moments and showed how grit, mindset, and relentless faith turned setbacks into stepping stones.
Our students were glued to every word. Several who normally stay silent during events were visibly moved—some to tears. Mike had a unique ability to connect with every background in the room, speaking to the athletes, the dreamers, and even those who were ready to give up on themselves. After the talk, we had a flood of students come forward, not just inspired—but changed. Some asked for help, others started planning their goals that very night.
Mike didn’t just give a speech—he lit a fire. If your organization is looking for a speaker who leaves people better than he found them, who delivers both hope and challenge, Mike is that voice. We will absolutely be bringing him back.

Miguel A. Castillo Jr. is a motivational speaker, author, U.S. Marine Corps veteran, and accomplished athlete whose journey from the streets of Harlem to solitary confinement and back embodies the raw truth of resilience, redemption, and relentless self-belief.
Born and raised in Washington Heights to immigrant parents, Miguel’s life has never followed a straight path. He served honorably as a Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps, later joining the ranks of the NYPD in pursuit of service, structure, and identity. But beneath the surface, unresolved trauma and fractured loyalties led him into a dark spiral. After a high-profile fall from grace, Miguel spent three and a half years in solitary confinement, facing not just the consequences of his actions, but the silence of a 6x9 cell and the reckoning of self.
It was in that cell, away from the noise, the streets, and the uniforms, that he began to write. To read. To reflect. And to rebuild.
Today, Miguel is a graduate of Long Island University and holds a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing from New York University. He is currently pursuing a second MFA in Screenwriting and Poetry from Manhattanville University, with plans to continue toward a PhD. His essays and stories draw from his lived experience as a Marine, a cop, a father, an inmate, and a coach, and have earned praise for their honesty, emotional impact, and power to inspire.
A lifelong athlete, Miguel has run the New York City Marathon four times, completed the NYC Triathlon five times, and finished a Half Ironman. He is also a two-time silver medalist in the New York Golden Gloves—proving that discipline, grit, and mental toughness are not just topics he speaks on, but values he lives every day.
As a speaker, Miguel blends street-level wisdom with academic insight, offering audiences a unique voice that bridges worlds. His talks range from youth empowerment and mental health to criminal justice reform, resilience, and fatherhood. Whether addressing a gym full of student-athletes or a corporate leadership summit, Miguel delivers powerful messages about accountability, second chances, and the work it takes to rewrite your story.
Now over a decade out of prison, Miguel has built a thriving life as a husband, father of three, and boxing coach at Gotham Gym in NYC. He also writes a popular newsletter and is actively developing both his memoir The Rogue’s Gallery, and a screenplay based on his life. Signature speaking topics include:
The Work Is the Reward: Building Discipline That Lasts
From Solitary to Stage: Finding Purpose After Rock Bottom
Rewriting Your Story: Redemption, Resilience, and Responsibility
Faith, Fatherhood & Fighting Back: Lessons from the Ring and Real Life
How to Train Your Mind Like an Athlete: Mental Toughness for Life and Work
Why book Miguel?
Because your audience doesn’t need another generic speech, they need to feel something real. They need to hear from someone who’s fought through the fire, failed in public, and come back stronger. Miguel doesn’t just motivate, he moves people. And he shows them, through lived experience, that no matter how far you fall, it’s always possible to rise.
My voice has been shaped by pain, persistence, and the people who taught me how to speak truth to power—whether through a microphone, a page, or a punchline.
I’ve been deeply influenced by writers like Stephen King, whose discipline and storytelling showed me the power of voice and vulnerability. Chuck Palahniuk taught me that darkness can be illuminating, and that broken characters can still be powerful. Junot Díaz gave me permission to write in Spanglish—to fuse the street with the literary. And Angie Cruz reminded me of where I come from and who I write for: the people with heart, hustle, and history.
In comedy, my holy trinity has always been Richard Pryor, George Carlin, and Dave Chappelle. Pryor taught me that you can make people laugh and cry at the same time—that truth can be funny, and pain can be poetic. Carlin showed me how to dissect the world with sharpness and wit. And Chappelle? He’s a surgeon. Cuts deep but always makes it look effortless. Bill Burr, too, for his unfiltered honesty and Boston grit—I respect people who say it like they see it, even when it’s messy.
From the world of oratory, I’ve always been moved by voices with conviction. Malcolm X remains one of my greatest influences—his clarity, his fire, his evolution. He made me realize that power isn’t about shouting louder, it’s about standing stronger. John F. Kennedy, especially his speeches about service, purpose, and redemption, remind me that language can unite people, even when the world feels divided.
But honestly? Some of my deepest influences never stood on big stages. My father and uncles in Washington Heights. The guys at 3333 Broadway. The old heads in the boxing gym who talked like philosophers with busted knuckles. The Marines who told war stories under flickering lights in chow halls. The inmates who found a way to laugh in the darkest places. They taught me rhythm. Timing. Heart. They taught me how to hold a room with just a voice and a story.
All of these influences—whether literary, comedic, political, or personal—have shaped the speaker and writer I’ve become. I don’t try to copy them. I try to honor them. By being real. By telling the truth. By earning every word I speak.
