Moonlight Henna

Henna and Jagua is great for anyone who can sit still for the artist to create an intricate design, and allow the henna paste 15-20 mintes to dry without smearing it. Henna is generally better for older kids, teens and adults and not recommended for the little ones. Face painting or glitter tattoos are usually most appropriate for younger kids.

Henna or Jagua is perfect to mark any special occasion, birthday parties for kids, tweens & teen parties, grad nights, bar/bat mitvahs, or when the parents don't want to be left out!
What is Jagua?

Jagua is a fruited plant that grows in South America and produces a bluish-black stain where the design is drawn for about 3 weeks. It is drawn on the skin with a cone or a bottle with a blunt needle on top of the skin.
People who have allergies to some fruits (like strawberries) should opt for henna, as it may cause an allergic reaction!

It is very important to all the design to dry completely and then it can be washed off with soap and water (in fact it should definitely be washed with soap and water)
More complex designs can be placed in the skin with a stencil first, much like a permanent tattoo!
It is not recommended for younger kids or anyone who isn’t able to sit still for about an hour while it is drying so it doesn’t smudge!
What is Henna?

Henna is an all-natural plant material. The leaves from the plant are dried and ground into a powder. I them combine the henna powder with lemon juice and essential oils to mix the henna into a paste. The paste is applied to the skin, it soaks into the top few layers of your skin and leaves a stain. It can last 1-4 weeks depending on placement and aftercare. I mix a fresh batch of all-natural organic henna paste for every event.

How does Henna work?

First be still, allow your henna design 15-20 minutes to dry. Apply a lemon/sugar aftercare spray. (Depending on the event type, aftercare may not be applied) This sets the henna and keeps is stuck on your skin. The longer you leave the henna paste on your skin, the darker it will stain and the longer it will last. The color develops from a pumpkinish orange color to a deep brownish/red over the next 24-48 hours and can last up to 3 weeks!

What does the artist bring to a party?

I bring fresh all-natural organic henna paste or jagua gel, glitter to add to the top of the design, instruction cards and portfolios with designs appealing to all ages and both men and women. I can offer simple 3 minute designs and can do henna or jagua for about 15 people per hour. Or I can offer more elaborate full hand henna designs for up to 10 people per hour. Jagua is entirely dependent on how complex the designs are.

Set-up requirements for Your Artist

Please plan on providing your artist a table (approx. 3x3 feet of space) and two chairs. Part of a picnic table and bench works well for outdoor locations . I can bring my own tables, chairs, and/or tall directors chairs to your event. Make sure to discuss any special requirements (like costume or themes) with me! Dressing up for events is fun! Good LIGHTING is very important if indoors! Artists always need to be in the shade for outdoor events! Please have a comfortable space for us to work so we can create the best designs possible :)

I offer competetive rates for face painting, henna & gliter tattoo parties. Rates are based on the size of your party, number of hours, number of services, amount of set-up required, your location and whether you require a custom portfolio for your event. I have relationships with several artists (including face painters) all over New England who share the love of body art just like me!

I can book multiple artists for large scale events! Most of our artists can offer more than one service at your party! Combine the services you want, and only pay for one artist!

Hi! I always loved all forms of art from a very young age! I learned makeup artistry first and about 15 years ago henna when I needed an alternative way to dye my hair when I developed an allergy to ingredients in chemical dyes used at salons.

I became obsessed with the origin of henna, it's rich cultural history, and began drawing with it on any available skin I could find!

I started getting calls to work on people, including some really interesting photo shoots, parties & several larger festivals (like the Big E) and it exploded from there.

All of my work up until this point has been purely through referrals, and now I would love to expand and henna as many people as possible with this ancient and beautiful art form!

I am the mother to a charismatic teenager who also enjoys drawing, an adopted pitbull! I also make handmade journals, paint on canvas, walls and everything else in between henna gigs and have been known to create all different types of artwork from found and recycled things.

I look forward to creating a beautiful piece and atmosphere for you!

I require a space that is fully lighted as well as access to 2 chairs and perhaps a small table. I have a special table I work on that comes with me everywhere!

For larger designs or Belly Blessings, the mother to be should have a place that is comfortable for them to sit upright, that I can maneuver around on both sides or on the floor in front of them so they do not need to move about. Please make sure she is well hydrated, has some snacks, and hasn’t used any lotion on her belly prior to my arrival!
