Since the age of 7, Monique "SongByrd" Harris, a Michigan native, has been determined to showcase her writing and powerhouse vocal ability. It was at that age that the adorable little songstress begged her reluctant mother to let her sing at her mom's wedding. Eventually she convinced her aunt, the wedding coordinator at the time and who was herself a bit curious of what her niece could do....and the rest was history! SongByrd blew away the two sisters as well as the entire room of guests, and she has been singing and performing ever since - including a win in a citywide Star Search competition when she was only 12 years old and also recently won the M.H.A Awards (Michiana's Hottest Artist) . Also opening for BET comic view show with Sonya D the comedian, Keith sweat, Bobby V, Tony Terry, Big Bubb, K’Jon, Kim Stratton, William Murphy, Public Announcement, Morris Day and the Times, Freddy Jackson, Dave Hollister, Sunshine Anderson, Men at Large, and Marvin Sapp. Her powerful vocal ability and songwriting skills has captured the attention of many internationally, with music being played in 92 countries, and she is looking to stake her claim as one of the music industry's best-selling female artists and songwriter. Growing up in the church gave her the soul and depth shes needed as an artist, and also has an impact on why shes determined to succeed. She wants to have fame and fortune to allow her the platform to make bigger and more significant strides towards improving the lives of others not only in her community, but worldwide.
