Arrival & Setup

For festivals, corporate events, and larger bookings, artists typically arrive 30–60 minutes before the scheduled start time to allow time for setup. We provide a clean, professional face painting station including chairs, a clearly defined workspace, and branded signage for events lasting 2.5 hours or longer.
Outdoor events require a covered or shaded area such as a tent or canopy. Setup and breakdown typically take 30–40 minutes.

Service Style & Guest Experience
MJC Artistry specializes in high-quality, fast face painting designs that keep lines moving while maintaining beautiful detail. Our artists are friendly, engaging, and experienced working with guests of all ages.
For larger events, multiple artists may be available to accommodate high attendance and ensure smooth guest flow.

For festivals and community events, we can also enhance visibility and engagement with:

• 6-foot “Free Face Painting” banner
• 9-foot rainbow feather flag to attract attendees
Birthday Parties

For birthday party bookings, artists arrive 15–20 minutes early for setup. A well-lit area with space for children to line up works best.

Each birthday booking includes a small gift for the birthday child to make the celebration even more special.

Health, Safety & Hygiene
Health and hygiene are a priority at every event. We use only professional cosmetic-grade, skin-safe paints and products. Brushes and tools are sanitized between guests and proper hand hygiene is maintained throughout the event.
For safety reasons, guests showing signs of contagious illness cannot be painted.

Event Requirements
To ensure a smooth experience, please note the following:
• A clear working area must be maintained
• Outdoor events require weather protection
• Minimum booking times may apply depending on event type
• Travel or additional setup options may incur additional fees

Founded by visual artist Mackenzie Travis, MJC Artistry combines formal art training with years of hands-on event experience to create fun, vibrant experiences that guests remember long after the event is over. Mackenzie holds a Diploma in Visual & Digital Arts from Humber College and has spent over a decade working in the arts. What began as a passion for creativity quickly grew into a thriving event entertainment business serving families, businesses, and community organizations throughout Metro Vancouver.

MJC Artistry is fully insured with $5 million liability coverage and is experienced working with both private clients and large organizations. Rates & Capacity
Face Painting: $135/hr per artist (2-hour minimum)
Approx. 10–25 faces per hour depending on design complexity
Balloon Twisting: $135/hr per artist (2-hour minimum)
Approx. 10–20 balloons per hour depending on complexity
Birthday Parties: $250 for 2 hours per artist
Maximum 20 faces per 2-hour booking
For parties with 10 children or fewer, time may be split between face painting and balloon twisting

Clients are responsible for booking sufficient time for expected attendance. Service to all guests cannot be guaranteed if insufficient time is booked.
Overtime may be added if an artist is available and is billed in ½-hour increments at $135/hr per artist.

Payment Terms
50% deposit required to reserve the event date
Private events: Remaining balance due 24 hours before the event
Corporate / community events: Balance due within 30 days post-event
Accepted payment methods: e-transfer, cash, cheque, invoice link, or on-site tap
Late invoices accrue $25/day starting 3 days after the event

Travel & Parking
Travel fees apply for events more than 35 minutes outside Port Moody
Client must provide nearby parking; parking fees will be added to the invoice
Delays due to parking or access do not extend service time

Setup Requirements
Indoor Events
Minimum space: 6’ x 6’
Adequate lighting required
Outdoor Events
Fully covered and shaded area required
Minimum space: 10’ x 10’ x 11’H on level ground
Artist requires restroom access and a place to dispose of rinse water
Optional 10’ x 10’ tent available for $50
Tables & Chairs
Events 3 hours or less: Client provides 1 table + 2 chairs per artist
Events 4+ hours: Artists provide tables and chairs

Health, Safety & Hygiene
Only professional, cosmetic-grade, FDA-compliant products are used
Brushes and tools sanitized between each guest
Artists will not paint anyone who appears ill, has infectious skin conditions, open wounds, or cold sores
Children under 3 years old will only be painted if comfortable and willing
Minor staining from darker pigments may occur

Weather Policy (Outdoor Events)
A safe, weather-protected work area is required. If conditions are unsafe due to weather, an indoor backup space must be available. Once the artist has arrived onsite, the full contracted rate applies regardless of weather changes.

Breaks
5–10 minute paid break after 2 hours
30 minute paid break for bookings of 3+ hours
Client remains responsible for crowd management during breaks.

Conduct, Liability & Other Artists
Offensive or inappropriate imagery will not be painted
Artists may stop service due to unsafe or hostile conditions without refund

Clients are responsible for supervising children at all times
MJC Artistry is not responsible for the conduct, products, or outcomes of any non-MJC Artistry painters or volunteers
Other painters may not use MJC Artistry supplies or work within our setup area

Photography & Media
With verbal consent from participants or guardians, MJC Artistry may photograph artwork for portfolio and marketing use. Clients must notify us in writing before the event if photography is not permitted.
