I am a mezzo soprano with a great deal of vocal flexibility and range, and a lot of musical variety as well. I sing musical and Broadway hits, jazz, carols, country, opera, classical, R&B, dance music and I even yodel a bit! I sing 'shows' for each of the holidays during the year, and I also perform at weddings, funerals, corporate events and gatherings, and family parties. I haven't yet performed in a non-smoking lounge, which is my dream job. But I'm keeping my fingers crossed!!!

June 25, 2014Miya sang my favorite song, The Rainbow Connection as I walked down the aisle. I felt so lovely! She made those lyrics come alive!! She has her own style and puts her own stamp on every song that she sings. We couldn't have made a better choice than Miya!

All of my clients can expect a polished performance that is appropriate and in keeping with the spirit of the event for which I am hired to perform for. My clients can expect fairness, flexibility, easy access to me prior to the event to answer questions and reassure them if necessary. They can expect to be treated as if they are my VIP clients that day, because they will be. That is how my clients stay happy.
I come completely self-contained and all of my accompaniments are digitally run through my computer. That said, it is always appreciated when a lovely, big man is wiling to bring in my rather heavy speaker for me. You can put me wherever you want. I'm comfortable front and center stage performing, and in the corner next to the pretty fish tank as background music for luncheons. I don't take up too much space with my equipment.

There's a gospel show, an Easter show (very similar, those two shows!), and a karaoke show where you can request 15 - 20 songs, I'll bring them, you can have folks sign up for the 'contest' in advance, and I (or a panel) will judge the contest. You can hand out prizes for silly stuff (like best use of a mike for other than singing!) or give out serious prizes. But it's fun, and you will need to come up with ribbons, prizes, etc.
Singing with the Ariizona Mormon Choir was influential for me. Also, a very short career doing musical theater also influenced many of my abilities today. My sister Ruthann taught me to sing my first song, The National Anthem, when I was 1. She regrets it now :). My mother, a lovely soprano taught me a lot about singing, as did Lilian Rubin of the Met, Sharon Lunt, Julie Andrews, Margot Jensen Swanson and Winnona Judd. 'What the hell does my weight have to do with how well I sing?' Exactly!
