Mirage

Mirage performs on many different levels as required for each individual venue or event. Often times we are hired to provide cocktail hour music, then create an ambiance for dinner. And as guests finish their meals and are ready to continue the evening we break out dance favorites from the past 60 decades: 50's & 60's, Motown, 70's, Disco, Classic Rock, Oldies and today's most contemporary hits. We love taking requests, bringing back great memories, dancing with the crowd and making them part of the music experience!

After many years of performing individually, Rob and Laurie combined their unique musical talents to form MIRAGE, which can best be described as “music with passion”. Vocal performance artist Laurie Saunders and her husband, pianist/keyboardist Rob Meads, have quickly become one of the most in-demand music duos in Southwest Florida. Rob and Laurie's extensive repertoire encompasses a wide variety of classic favorites through the ages, including Jazz, Standards, Motown, Oldies, Country, Rock, 50's & 60's, Disco, Pop and today's latest contemporary hits. Their collection of cocktail/dinner, dance and high-energy music is perfectly suited for all occasions or may be customized for your special event. Rob Meads has been a self-taught professional musician for almost 40 years. He started his career as an organist for professional sports teams for 10 years, including: The Minnesota Twins (Baseball); The Minnesota North Stars (hockey); The Minnesota Kicks (soccer--indoor & outdoor); and the 1980 Gold Medal-Winning U.S. Olympic Hockey Team.

For 20 years he worked as a sales representative and performer with Technics Musical Instruments, a division of Panasonic, specializing in digital instruments, pianos, organs and keyboards. He travelled extensively, performing concerts and giving demonstrations for dealers.
Rob is experienced in playing atmosphere music at many fine restaurants, and is currently performing at MiraMare Ristorante in Naples, Florida four nights a week.

Laurie Saunders has been captivating audiences with her vocal talent and charisma since the age of three. At 16, she won the title of Miss Virginia T.E.E.N. Soon after, she began her professional career as an entertainer at Kings’ Dominion in Ashland, VA. She acquired a recording contract with Epic Records in 1990, which produced a Top 20 hit on Billboard’s Dance Chart.
An amazing career has taken her around the world, performing in a South Pacific USO Tour; a national tour of “Joseph and The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat”; “PARIS JE T’AIME” at Le Palais Montcalm in Quebec; as a back-up singer for Barry Manilow; entertainment for an international convention in Singapore; starred as a guest entertainer on Royal Caribbean, Norwegian, Discovery and Cape Canaveral Cruise Lines; as lead vocalist for mega-ship Las Vegas-style revue shows; as a featured performer for numerous worldwide production and industrial shows; fronted two touring Top 40 bands; starred in touring productions of CHICAGO and GREASE, as well as IMAGINATION, CIRQUE DU MONDE, HOT LATIN RHYTHMS and numerous other Kevin Black Productions shows; and solos her own one-woman cabaret show.

Laurie has been performing throughout Southwest Florida as a solo entertainer over the past 12 years, providing custom entertainment for private events, country clubs and restaurants.

Mirage has just spent the last year upgrading their sound equipment to a full Bose system, a new Shure Beta 87 wireless microphone and wireless headset which allows Laurie the freedom to dance and become more involved with the crowd when she needs to do so. They have also added new sound-activated dance lights, fabric light columns, a fog machine and laser lights to enhance the party experience!
