Mind&Melody Music Session

Our music enrichment sessions are highly individualized to tailor to each participant group. Seniors and young musicians alike sing songs from the 30-70s, play instruments, like maracas and drums, while participating in musical activities like name tunes, rhythm exercises, moving, and dancing. In our sessions, the music goes beyond words.

Imagine someone you love- your mother, grandfather, or spouse sitting silently, a blank stare in their eyes, seemingly lost to dementia. Then, suddenly, they hear a familiar song. Their eyes light up. They tap their fingers. Maybe even sing along. For a moment, they’re back, present, connected, alive. This is the power of music, and this is the impact Mind&Melody brings to life every day. Mind&Melody's mission is to use music as a tool to help older adults experiencing neurological decline regain pieces of themselves, while instilling purpose and empathy in younger generations. Our proprietary arts curriculum has been proven to enrich the quality of life for older adults with Alzheimer's and other types of dementia, as well as children and young adults diagnosed with developmental disabilities, ADHD, Down syndrome, and Autism, through interactive, intergenerational music programs. Since 2014, we’ve implemented over 11,000 music sessions in more than 100 healthcare facilities and homes across Florida, serving 2,000 individuals annually. Our programs are designed with cognitive benefits in mind, improving the quality of life for people experiencing neurological conditions.

Our sessions blend the arts, education, and social connection. Older adults and young musicians sing together, play instruments like maracas and drums, and participate in rhythm exercises and movement activities. The music opens a door where words often fail. Our team brings backgrounds in nonprofit management, social work, counseling, and community engagement. Nationally recognized for innovation, we’ve received the Elevate Prize GET LOUD Award, Inspire305 Trailblazer Award, and the Coors Light Líderes of the Year.
