My name is Nate and I'm a student at the UIUC. During the summer, I am a regional manager of Mind Blowing Balloons Chicago and coordinate a team of twisters that work at the Rainforest Cafe in the heart of the city while doing organizing private events for people around the area as well as in the central Illinois region.. I bring over a hundred potential balloon creations ranging from animals, to superheroes, to all the princesses, crazy hats, and much more! Along with my balloon skills, I bring an engaging personality, flexibility, competitive rates, and a positive attitude! I don't use gigsalad as often as I do some other platforms, but I have some reviews from other gigs in my photos.
Nate did a fantastic job! He arrived on time and immediately got to work! He was excellent with the children and very organized. I will definitely use Nate again and absolutely recommend him!!
He was able to do Buzz, mermaid, pluto ... wow he is talented
Did not show up for the event. Sent a message on Gigsalad just one hour before the start of the event. Would not recommend to anyone.
Response from Mind Blowing Balloons:
I'm very sorry about the circumstance of that day. I was feeling very excited about the event, but unfortunately that morning I came down with food poisoning. I let them know as soon as I could, but it was nevertheless disappointing. I hope a situation like this never happens again as for the dozen of other gigs, I have never had this problem before.

What to Expect
Being a student at the University of Illinois in Champaign, I am free to do gigs all around central Illinois . I have a high standard for myself and always am pushing myself to amaze all my clients. I am in my early twenties and bring a lot of energy and drive to better myself.
I know over 60 unique creations and can make some more amazing creations by looking at pictures. Depending on the size of the event, I can either do more of my complex creations when there is less than 20-25 people per hour. If there is between 25-50 people per hour that I must service, I might have to do a more basic list so everyone gets a balloon in the end. My basic list, though, typically exceeds expectations as I can make octopuses, monkeys climbing trees, working bows and arrows, butterflies, amazing roses, animal bracelets and hats, lightsabers and diamond swords, and much more.
My more complex list includes superheroes, princesses, TV characters like Elmo and Buzzlightyear, jet packs, crazy hats, and much much more.
My client ages range from 2 years old all the way to 90+ years old and everyone in-between. Kids and adults love watching the balloons materialize before their eyes. I would say my speed is much more advanced than your typically balloons artist while the quality is also higher than most.
When I am doing line work (aka when people line up to get a balloon at a festival or block party) I love connecting with my audience while making sure the line keeps moving, and I don't know many artists that is more effective with getting the most amount of balloons per hours while keeping the quality sky high.
I've done balloons for 4 straight hours before while doing upwards of 10 hours over the course of a day with mini breaks in between. I have a long fuse with making these balloons which is perfect for massive festivals and events. Making sure people get their balloon is my first priority.
I've dealt with tens of thousands of people over the last 2 years and am prepared for everything: balloon popping, crying children, shy children, impatient children and adults alike, intoxicated college students and adults, massive families, non-english/english-as-a-second (or third) language speakers, middle/high schoolers who are "too cool for school", special needs/wheelchair bound clients, elderly, line cutters, you name it, I've experienced it. Nothing surprises me.
Bottom line: expect professionalism
Back in October 2016, I was just an aspiring magician, but once I met a balloon artist that told me he could train myself and some of my friends to be professionals, I was hooked. He trained 4 of us initially by giving us resources to mainly learn on our own, and we started working at the Rainforest Cafe. After about three months of mastering the basics and a few more months learning more advanced balloons, I was approved for private events and gigs by my company. I am the Regional Manager since my supervisor owned his own company in Orange Country, California and wanted to expand to Chicago for a while since he had a lot of connections here. After the initial 4 twisters, I have trained over a dozen other twisters and have others to train in the near future. We provide artists to the Rainforest Cafe every weekend and also do all sorts of birthday parties, block parties, corporate events, festivals, and more since then.
As I left for college in the fall for 2016, I decided to work as a private contractor and do various gigs and events around central Illinois as that is where I go to school. I go to the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and am able to have a lot of freedom in my profession. My rates, flexibility, and services are all my own and can be adjusted for any event I am available for. I bring all my supplies and am insured by the Specialty Insurance Agency. I can provide proof of insurance if needed.
Over the past two years I have gained a plethora of experience in my field and while I am not the oldest balloon artist, I can confidently say I am experienced beyond my years. I have worked in many different professions where customer service is emphasized, and I have been able to use that experience and knowledge of customer service classes and different work environments in the profession of balloon twisting. I always strive to exceed expectations at every function I am apart of and I have left every single event I've worked at with most every child and adult amazed at my speed, variety, and creativity.
I love making kids and adults smile, and at every event it is always my goal to get every person who wants a balloon at least one. My speed has enabled me to provide over a hundred creations in under three hours, especially during festivals and block parties, so no one feels left out!
Additional Booking Notes
I bring all my supplies with me, if it is a festival or a big event, I just like a table to give a little cushion between my clients and I. But not required.
