Mike Short Jr is a country music artist, singer/songwriter from Murfreesboro, Tennessee. His musical influences have been Tim McGraw, Jason Aldean and Johnny Cash. Mike released his Nashville produced debut cd "Blame It On Me" in 2009. Critiques have been taking notice of Short stating his "plaintive, down-home vocals recall classic singers with names like Merle, Garth and Buck.
Mike currently performs with two bands StateWide which is Tennessee based and the band DownTime from Pennsylvania. Both bands provide true professionalism and genuine country/southern rock sound from original songs off of Mikes CD to popular cover tunes. Mike will travel to any gigs, festivals or events.
I attended a 150th celebration of Duncannon, Pa. I was not going to stay after we gave out our award but as soon as I heard this band, wow!!!! They were great. You won't be sorry if you go see this band. Acoustics were great. They played on a summer night which was perfect. Good luck to this band. Can't wait to see them again.
My wife and I walked into the big tent area to take a break from the sun, there was a band playing called Mike Short Jr and Statewide.I couldnt believe how good they were to be just a part of the free concerts where the bigger names play at night and have a price for a ticket. This band was great,if I had to pay next year to see them at Sunfest,I would. Thanks for the good music, bob Boatwright,Baltimore Maryland
The 707 Sports Bar & Grille welcomed Mike Short Jr back for a second time and once again, all who were in attendance (a full house) were treated to a night of great music and fun. Mike and his band "Statewide" displayed their music versatility , which was a great "addition" to an already great show. We have discussed future bookings for Mike and we look forward to his return.
Mike and his band are excellent! They are able to keep the crowd going with the songs they sing! Everyone was very energetic as they played at our event! Some people even joined him that evening when he performed in Ocean City.
Mike Shor Jr. was the headliner for the PA Helping Nashville Event in Huntingdon, Pennsylvania. The guest of the event were AMAZED! The mayor personally invited him back! Many of the guests, along with myself, agree that Mike Short Jr will soon be as successful as any of the mega stars today. Many purchased a copy of his new CD, Who's to Blame. Every single song on the CD could be played on the radio today. It is filled with GREAT songs. Mike's voice is unique. I believe that with his incredible singing ability, performance ability, desire, and dedication that we will be seeing his name in lights VERY soon. He is a go-getter and he is in Nashville doing what he needs to do to "make it happen". Mike Short jr is truly a step above the rest. He stands out. No doubt about it - Mike Short Jr has the "IT" FACTOR! Tammy J. Carolus/Coordinator for PA Helping Nashville Event

Mike Short Jr has been taking many a critique by surprise with his soulful southern sound. His reviews speak volumes of what to expect when hiring Mike Short Jr for your event, festival or gig. Read below what the critiques have to say:
Mike Short Jr’s terrific debut CD, “Blame It On Me,” is that rarest of 21st century Country and Western albums: it’s full of genuine country music. The fiddles are pure Nashville, the piano is authentic honky tonk, the guitar tones are patented Fender, and Short’s plaintive, down-home vocals recall classic singers with names like Merle, Garth and Buck. Granted, there’s enough contemporary country-rock sheen to make songs like the up-tempo “Good Guys Wear Black” and “Lady in Waiting” completely radio-ready, but such studio polish can’t hide the deep country underpinnings that make this 12-song collection solid from beginning to end. Bookended by the soulful delivery of opening track, “Who’s to Blame,” and the solemn tones of the final song - the excellent ballad, “Soon I’m Comin’ Home,” Mike Short Jr’s hook-filled “Blame It on Me” CD touches all the bases on an album for listeners who still appreciate true country singers and real country songs.

Mike Short Jr is an extremely well polished Country artist. His voice is as good if not better than any other Country artist out in the mainstream today!
His new album Blame It On Me is a wonderful showcase of his skills. The opening song "Who's To Blame" is a wonderful mid tempo song that I can imagine women will swoon over. The CD really kicks into gear with "Lady In Waiting" where he sings about meeting a woman while out at a bar. The next few songs on the CD are great but a real good old dance song is "I Can Dance". This song would be great live with a crowded dance floor! It gets away from the love style songs and puts some great fun into the CD and it is one of my favorites! Basically this CD is a winner. It has love songs, slow songs, dance songs and fun songs as well. Along with his good looks, Mike has a complete package here! Dan Drilling did a wonderful job at mixing and mastering project.
The final song is a song about a soldier wanting to come home. If you listen to the song in the right mood it may bring a tear to your eye especially if you have a loved one overseas!
