I play the acoustic guitar and sing. I provide my own PA system. I cover many artists; America, The Beatles, Paul Simon, Jim Croce, Dire Straits, George Harrison, Jimi Hendrix, The Who, The Stones, Pearl Jam, Dylan, Neil Young, Donovan, Cat Stevens, The Zombies, Motown, The Eagles, Jackson Browne,James Taylor, some blues standards.I literally know hundreds of covers!! I'm am also a highly regarded, award winning songwriter and NO ONE finds my originals boring. They are spiced with with humor, charm and a spark of intelligence.
I'm an accomplished guitarist and know how to add interesting, licks and fills as opposed to just strumming the same chords all night. I know how to entertain.
I hire this man. He play music and audience love him. They dance and to cheer also.I do not understand the Holy Moley. He remind me much of Ivan Petreuchioniski of old country. I'm sure you know what I mean. I like to hit him with garbage can! But he good. Really! I sell a lot o Fatoush.
Mike Dorn is a songwriter who's got something for everyone: romance,
wit, poignancy, and spot-on criticism of this crazy world in which we live.
I've had the good pleasure of both playing with him AND booking him.
He's on time for his gigs, takes the business seriously, and has a good time with his original tunes and his esoteric covers. Check him out EVERY time he's around for a performance, because you never know what nuggets he's going to perform. Rock on Mike!
one of michidans true song writers
Mike ran the open mic in my establishment for almost 6 years, he was the consumate professional at all times. He often also performed on many weekends, he always brought joy to the crowd with his music, poetry and off brand comedy. Mike interacts with the crowd and made sure everyone was having a great time. If given the opportunity, I would highly suggest allowing Mike to bring his style of entertainment to your establishment. He brings his own crowd, and will entertain everyone in the place. Feel free to contact me directly for a personal referance, again, if you have not seen Mike Dorn perfom, you are truely missing out on a life changing experiance.
Dorn's songs bring back the long lost art of story telling with often subtle humorous commentary you have to be awake to get. Actually, disguised amongst happy little pop tunes are his reflections on the crazy things we do out of an ignorance of our own place in the world, motivations, and desires.
Mike's magnetic personality and sparkling wit never failed to draw crowds when he was engaged at my place, the Road Runner's Raft, back in the 90's.

Gig Length: 45 - 180 minutes
I am currently performing solo. Acoustic guitar that plugs into a PA system. I'm from Detroit and have spent considerable time in Calif.
A bit of a late bloomer, I started doing regular gigs around Detroit Metropolitan area in the 90s. I formed a few bands, but my most popular gigs were my solo shows. I had quite a following of college kids and high school kids then. My originals are quite funny, charming and witty. I had a nice run of popularity in Detroit. I'm now located in the Daytona Beach area and still trying to establish myself as a working performer here. I have done some shows and have a bit of a following here and it's starting to grow. I work at my music every day and am fully committed to being the best I can be. I have CDs and have had air play on some major rock stations as well as many college stations. You can book me as a solo performer or my band , The Dorn Flakes.
