Michael Galligan

Upon booking, I like to set up a brief consultation call with the client on the parameters of the gig. My piece is highly flexible - I am able to perform any duration of show between 5-50 minutes, and require very few technical needs. The most important thing is enough space to setup my box at a time that makes sense with the flow of the event.

Audiences can expect a head-turning comedy performance that will most likely be different than anything they've seen before. My work draws from clown, traditional stand-up, and theater to create a piece that is entertaining as well as meaningful and resonant with audience members. They can also expect to be called on to join me onstage for certain segments (with their consent).

Michael Galligan is an actor, comedian, producer, and teaching artist. Michael's work has been developed and performed at Irondale Center, The Deep End, 59E59 Theater, the Upper Jay Art Center, and ZOO at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. His first full-length play, Solarplexus, an eco-cyberpunk sci-fi comedy utilizing a self-powering bicycle generator, made its debut at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 2018 (“...of considerable wit and guile,” said The List in a four-star review). In 2020, he co-produced a weekly online clown variety show. Recent theater credits include: Missing 411: Into the Void (Upper Jay Art Center, Cincy Fringe 2021, FringePVD 2021), Exposure (Eugene O’Neill NPC, Rattlestick), Ocean Filibuster (Abrons Arts Center), Birdbrains (Deep End, Upper Jay Art Center), and more.

My box measures at 4'x4'x5' (LxWxH). I only need that much space on "stage" (it doesn't have to be a traditional stage), and the ability to run a power strip from the box to an outlet.

Ideally, the venue allows for the use of a water-based smoke machine. It is an important moment in the full-length show, but if this is not possible then I can use another section of the show without smoke.

Ability to connect to a speaker or mixer is a plus, but not a dealbreaker.
