Michael Benedict Jazz Vibes

You can expect that a professional musician of 50 years will do everything to make your event a success. For casual events, we provide background music for any occasion. We are never too loud. People will be able to speak to each other without difficulty. We arrive at least one hour before the event. Our setup is very simple and takes only a few minutes.

For a jazz concert performance, we play straight ahead jazz with some Bossa Novas (Brazilian influenced jazz) and some original material. The music is very accessible to all ages.

MICHAEL BENEDICT

Percussionist Michael Benedict received a bachelor’s degree in Music Education from the Crane School of Music at SUNY Potsdam and a master’s degree in Jazz Studies from Rutgers University. He has toured the United States extensively, performing at numerous concert halls, colleges, clubs, and festivals and has performed in Europe and Africa.

As a vibraphonist and drummer, Michael has released six recordings to date., one of which was listed as one of the Best Jazz Albums of 2015 by National Public Radio.

Michael is a highly regarded educator and taught high school band, jazz band and music theory in Greenville, NY for twenty-five years. Michael is an Artist Endorser for Canopus Drums , Marimba One Vibraphone and Soultone Cymbals.

The technical requirements will vary dramatically based on the nature of the event. We will need close access to a power source. We will bring our own PA system if none is provided. In a concert situation, we generally require a stage big enough to hold 4 musicians and gear.
