Every booking with Mia Rose Strings includes a consultation about your event to cover repertoire, dress code, day/time and other logistics. I'm here for you before your event as well with regular and consistent communication. On the day-of, you can expect me 30-40 minutes early to get set up and ready to go for a smooth event! Whether you are looking for quiet background music for an event or amplified violin for a rock 'n roll style, I've got you covered. New York City-based violinist Mia Rose Nardi-Huffman is recognized as a versatile and dynamic performer of music ranging from Beethoven to Black Sabbath. She has performed across North America and Europe, in venues that include Carnegie Hall, The SF JAZZ Center, Herbst Theatre, The Los Angeles Orpheum, and Shoreline Amphitheatre. She is the concertmaster of the Emo Orchestra, a member of the heavy rock band Spirit Mother, and a freelance musician and private teacher in New York City.
Mia additionally performs with the electro-acoustic project Sphinx of Black Quartz Judge My Vows and the chamber groups Ensemble For These Times and Brooklyn Chamber Players. Passionate about the creation of new music in the contemporary classical space, Mia has held composition residencies at Stanford University, the San Francisco Conservatory of Music and Cal State East Bay with the ASTRAEUS Collective, as well as at Diablo Valley College and UC Santa Cruz with members of Ninth Planet.
In the realm of crossover music, Mia has performed alongside large-scale musical acts including Evanescence, Escape the Fate, Lindsey Stirling, Brad Mehldau and Joshua Redman, Lalah Hathaway, The Spill Canvas, and more. Mia has also worked extensively as a studio musician, recording with artists such as Streetlight Manifesto, The Singer and The Songwriter, Marcus McCauley, and Portrait Maker, and for documentaries and short films.
Mia earned both her BM (2014) and her MM (2016) from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, where she was concertmaster of the Conservatory Orchestra and the recipient of the Sergei Barsukov Violin Scholarship.
When not performing or teaching, she is often found taking care of her many houseplants and spending time with her cat Stella Bean.
For smaller, more intimate events, an acoustic performance is likely what you're looking for. I can perform standing or sitting, whichever is your preference! I provide my own music stand and stand light, but ask that a chair is provided if you'd like me to perform sitting down. Any lighting is sufficient as I have my own stand light!
For larger events, I recommend booking my services as an electric violinist to ensure that all of your guests can hear the music. I can provide a small amplifier, but will need access to power to plug it in. I am also able to work with the DJ or sound person at an event to use their speaker set-up if you wish!
Please note that for outdoor events, I require shade cover to protect myself and my instrument/any amplification. Tree cover may suffice, but if the shade is sparse, or if it is raining, greater coverage is needed (3-walled tent, overhang, etc). I also ask that all clients provide space heaters if it is below 55 degrees Farenheit, or a fan if it is above 85 degrees Farenheit.
