We met as students at the esteemed San Francisco Conservatory of Music and now are making waves in the New York Metropolitan Area! Catch us on stage with your favorite bands (like Evanescance, The Eagles, Sigur Ros, Escape the Fate and more!) when we aren't playing for your events.

We are flexible and able to offer a multitude of string experiences for your event! If you're looking for a solo, duo, trio, or quartet for your wedding, we can offer classical and/or pops selections to make your day as special as can be. We'll take the time for a pre-wedding planning meeting with you and/or your planner, where we'll go over what you are looking for and pick appropriate musical selections. On the day of, we'll arrive early to set up where you'd like, and provide beautiful music for your big day. We can play acoustically or plugged into an amplifier for bigger events! We are also pros at playing for parties, whether in the background or as a featured performance. Want us to perform a private concert? We can do that too! Let's have a planning meeting over Zoom ahead of time to discuss what you're looking for, and we'll be happy to present a full quartet program for your family and friends.
The ASTRAEUS Collective was formed out of our mutual desire to reinvigorate the world of classical chamber music. From performing in decommissioned cotton mills to orchid greenhouses and Brooklyn brownstones, you can always expect a visual and auditory feast of delights when at an ASTRAEUS experience!
Created in San Francisco in 2018, the founding members of ASTRAEUS met as students at the renowned San Francisco Conservatory of Music, where they honed their skills under some of the world’s best chamber musicians. Dissatisfied with the traditional concert hall experience, they began their Bar Series at Monroe, a San Francisco nightclub where they presented everything from Beethoven to Lady Gaga in a sleek and modern environment.
ASTRAEUS quickly gained traction and was added to the roster at InterMusic SF, during which period of time they partnered with major institutions such as Stanford University and CSU East Bay to work with student composers and premiere their works. ASTRAEUS also created their Commissioning Initiative, in which they sought to specifically sponsor the commission of a work by an LGBTQ+ composer: Derek Tywoniuk was the inaugural winner with his string quartet ‘never (always) not’.
In 2023, founding members Mia Rose Nardi-Huffman and Samuel Nelson moved the Collective to Brooklyn, New York, where they have expanded the roster to include visual artists, vocalists, electronic music producers and more. Nowadays, you can find ASTRAEUS Collective concerts touching down all over the New York Metropolitan Area in spaces ranging from art galleries and DIY venues to intimate house concerts.
We're very simple! Set us up in the corner of your event, or feature us on a stage; whatever works for you. For large/louder events we recommend amplification (a simple microphone/mic stand and speaker setup is fine). For outdoor events, some form of shade cover is required that could also withstand rain.
