WEDDING DAY NO SHOW. SAVE YOURSELF AND YOUR MONEY!!! Please understand that I am writing this review not because I hate Melissa, but because I want to spare another bride the pain and stress I suffered on my wedding day at her hands.
I hired Melissa on a recommendation. Her hair and makeup photos looked good and I had no reason to doubt her professionalism because of her good reviews. I now know that she DISABLES THE ABILITY TO LEAVE REVIEWS on popular platforms such as Facebook in order to hide experiences like mine. I know this because when I tried to leave this review on that platform, she had turned the ability off, knowing I would have words of warning for other brides.
I adjusted the schedule for the wedding day the week of my wedding because Melissa said we needed more time. Accordingly, my bridesmaids and I left my house at 8 AM to be at the venue by 9 for a tight hair and makeup schedule. When we arrived at the venue, Melissa was not there yet. After about 15 minutes, I called our wedding planner to let her know we were still waiting. As the day went on, it became gradually more and more clear that Melissa was not late, but in fact was not going to show up.
My bridesmaids were watching YouTube videos, offering to go to Walgreens to buy makeup, doing each other’s hair. It took about 2.5 hours after she was late for me to cry on my wedding day. It hurt that we had paid SO MUCH money for a professional service and this person could not even bother to call and explain their absence.
Thank the lord our sweet wedding planner called in a favor and we got another hair and makeup team on site 3.5 hours after our original start time. Many brides do not have wedding planners to call in a favor like this. Additionally, the only reason anyone was available to save the day was because of COVID.
Unfortunately, the chaos did not stop there, because we were way behind schedule. The entire day up until the moment I walked down the aisle I felt stressed and frantic. Melissa’s NO SHOW impacted every aspect of the schedule for the wedding day, we even had to start late.
During the day while I was getting ready, Melissa finally called me back (at 2 PM). At this point myself and my wedding planner had been calling her all day, reaching out on social media, to no response. She called me and said she was on vacation, and that she had written down that my wedding day was on Monday because she thought my 4s looked like 6s in the contract where I wrote the date. This was a poor excuse at best, but in this case was totally unacceptable because my wedding planner had sent her detailed timelines and digital confirmations of the date that I guess she didn’t bother to read?
I obviously told her it was unacceptable and I would never forgive her and to refund the money, to which she said “wow.” She then proceeded to SHORT ME ON THE REFUND by $160. Unfortunately for Melissa I had the good sense to keep documentation and proved the full balance due, which she begrudgingly refunded.
I should have seen this coming after Melissa made me get up at 4 AM to drive to her house to get ready at 6 AM for my bridal portraits and drive another hour + to the venue.
I have never thought someone deserved a scathing review more in my entire life, and I beg of you to take your business elsewhere and save yourself from a vendor who writes down the wrong date (a Monday??) and doesn’t bother to read the million typed confirmations of the date and formal wedding timelines.

Hey beauties!! I just wanted to introduce myself and give a little info about who I am and what I’m doing.
My name is Melissa Dunn. I am a military wife, mom and entrepreneur. I love everything about what I do.
All of my life makeup and hair have been a passion of mine. My Grandmother used to let me play in her makeup vanity and it always made me feel so glamorous. I always knew that makeup and hair was what I wanted to do growing up. I graduated from Paul Mitchell in 2014 where I excelled in makeup and fell in love with updo/special occasion hair styling.
I love that I now get to share that feeling with with all of my clients. There is just something very special about seeing a woman’s confidence change right before your eyes. 💋❤️
