I uncovered my passion for music when my grandmother bought me my 1st alto saxophone in 1997. From that point, I knew I found my calling and followed my dream from California to Nevada. I'm a self taught saxophonist and have developed my ear by listening to some of the greatest musicians of all time. In the early 2000's, I opened up for Starship and played a cool show for Arnold Schwarzenegger. From 2000 until now, I've played corporate events, weddings, wineries, fine dining restaurants, hotels etc. I've always been around music since I was a young kid. My grandparents, mother and auntie sang in the church choir. What's strange is, I had no idea what jazz was and actually listened to heavy metal bands like Metallica in high school. In 1996 or so, I heard Kenny G and Grover Washington for the 1st time on a pop radio station called 102.7 Kiss FM and really enjoyed the music. From that point, I became mesmerized by Traditional Jazz, Blues, R&B, Soul, Motown, Contemporary Jazz and the rest was history. I would consider my style of play melodic and soulful. I really love melodies that bring out emotion while I'm playing in front of an audience. I write most of my own music and produce from my Panama City home studio. Music unites our hearts and is healing. I find inspiration all around me. My musical influences stem from Curtis Mayfield, James Brown, The Isley Brothers, Al Jarreau, Gato Barbieri, Grover Washington Jr and Kenny G. - Matt Lee
