Matt Ingelson

Matt Ingelson is a trumpet player who resides in Southern California. As a second generation musician, his entire life has been devoted to the musical arts, making him a truly well-rounded and versatile musician. As such, his experiences in music have taken him all around the world with tours in China, South Africa, and Ecuador.
Matt Ingelson hails from Palm Springs, California, where he lived for 15 years before earning his Bachelor of Music Degree at VanderCook College of Music in Chicago, Illinois. As a trumpet player, he has had the opportunity to play all over the world and for many celebrities, including but not limited to Keely Smith, Buddy Greco, Carol Channing, Barry Manilow, Suzzane Somers, and President Gerald Ford. He has received recognition from Congress for performances in China and South Africa. He has also had the opportunity to perform and teach in Quito, Ecuador.
In America, he's been a featured soloist for several ensembles including the VanderCook Symphonic band, Desert Cities Pops band, the Coachella Valley Symphony, and Buddy Roger's Youth Symphony.
In addition to his classical credits, Matt is well versed in jazz, pop, and commercial music. His jazz playing has led him to perform for several high profile events throughout Chicago, including city fundraisers hosted by Mayor Rahm Emmanuel. He's led groups that were featured performers for TEDx, where his arrangements were used to demonstrate the history of jazz. He's been a featured soloist with groups that have performed at the Elmhurst Jazz festival and the Idyllwild Jazz festival among others.
In addition to performing, Matt is an accomplished arranger. His arrangements have been played and sung throughout the country- from the marching field to concert halls to small venues. He's written for a wide variety of ensembles including brass ensemble, funk groups, marching bands, concert bands, jazz bands, trumpet ensembles, a capella choirs, choirs, and orchestras.
Music education has always been very important to Matt. He is a certificated teacher in Illinois and has worked with several public school band programs across the country. These schools include Lyons Township High School (recent Superstate finalist in Illinois), Gwendolyn Brooks Middle School (featured performers at the national Jazz Educators Network conference), and Palm Springs High School (Grammy School finalist).
